Due to injuries, AC Milan have been made to change their mercato strategy, however, reinforcements will depend on when players come back.

It almost feels like last season in the way that Milan are struggling with injuries at present. The 2023/24 campaign was nightmarish for the medical department, and a similar trend can not occur this season.

At present, there are five players in the injury room, which has ‘forced a review of the mercato strategy’, and Calciomercato.com have looked at the injuries themselves and the timeframe for their recovery.

We start with the obvious one, Emerson Royal. With a move away more than feasible, he was selected for the game against Girona and found himself injured after only four minutes. The Brazilian has suffered a ‘high grade’ injury to the right calf, and it seems that he will be sidelined for around three months.

Alessandro Florenzi’s absence is still being felt, but the Italian now ‘sees the light’. He should be back on the field in March, and this is due to his hard work after the injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek hopes to return in February, after a relapse with his right biceps femoris. Sergio Conceicao could be more careful with the injury too to avoid further issues.

Malick Thiaw is also recovering from a similar injury, but his situation is viewed slightly more positively. He aims to be back on the field for the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro on February 2, less than a month after the injury.

Finally, Samuel Chukwueze should be back for Sunday, when Milan face Parma at San Siro. The Nigerian winger has not featured for Sergio Conceicao so far, so he will hope to get a chance to make an impact.
