CM: Ibrahimovic’s vision persists despite jeers from fans before Genoa game
Yesterday’s game against Genoa brought about the first public signs that the AC Milan fans are not happy with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
As Calciomercato.com write, Gerry Cardinale’s mission is to bring Milan back to the elite of world football, but so far the path has been full of obstacles. The face of RedBird Capital brought Ibrahimovic in one year ago, entrusting him with a Senior Advisor role.
Even though the job title is vague, no one at Milan holds as much weight as the Swede. Zlatan has the final say on every decision, whether strategic or transfer market related. He observes, studies, checks and decides on every area.
He keeps up to date on Milan Futuro, Milan Femminile and the First Team coached by Fonseca on a daily basis, he often requests reports on different areas such as marketing and communication. If he makes a decision – even a divisive one – it stands because there are no directors who have the strength to change it.
The latest example dates back to last Friday when the definitive breaking point with the now ex-sporting director Antonio D’Ottavio arrived. However, the vision of the collegial work has not changed, with Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada working closely with Ibrahimovic.
The former striker has identified four or five key men moving forward and among them are the Milan Futuro coach Daniele Bonera and the overseer of that project Jovan Kirovski, who arrived at the Rossoneri thanks to Ibrahimovic.

Kirovski is destined to have more and more power within Milan in the coming months. It remains to be understood in what role considering the presence of Geoffrey Moncada (whose contract expires in July, but should be renewed).
One certainty exists and it is also quite evident: a year on from his return, it is increasingly Ibrahimovic’s Milan. The fans made their thoughts clear: when he was shown on screen at the Genoa game last night, there was a smattering of jeers, showing unhappiness at the current path.
Zlatan is not happy with the results so far in the league, but has decided to continue with Paulo Fonseca for the time being. A bad result on Friday in Verona might change that.
