CM: Gimenez pursuit and Monza’s enquiry – Milan persisting with ‘2/3 year’ Camarda plan

AC Milan signed two strikers in the summer and seem to want to add another in January, so what does that mean for the future of Francesco Camarda?

Calciomercato.com confirm that Milan are willing to invest in Santiago Gimenez who they believe can be the centre-forward for the future, but believes also believe in Camarda’s potential and are trying to develop him in the best way possible.

However, he ultimately remains 16-year-old boy who has not yet fully grown yet physically, even if mentally the minutes with the first team will have been worth their weight in gold. Despite this, there are still concerns about his path.

Camarda has nine appearances and one goal with Milan Futuro in Serie C in a total of 690 minutes, plus two appearances and two goals in the Coppa Italia Serie C.

With the first team he has three appearances in the Champions League for a total of 28 minutes and seven appearances in Serie A for a total of 140 minutes.

These numbers open to more than one interpretation, and one is that Milan believe that they have a talent who should be given the opportunity to be part of the first team, which will in turn speed up his growth path.

Clearly if the negotiation for Gimenez were to conclude positively, things would change because there would be almost no space left. And at that point Camarda would have to return to playing more frequently, with Milan Futuro.

Gimenez represents the choice for the present, Camarda the one for the future. Milan are convinced that in two or three years the record-breaking striker will be ready to become a starter and even capable of making the difference.

Monza tried for a loan back in November and then a few days ago, but their attempt was rejected. Other Italian clubs also came forward to enquire but they were told very clearly: Camarda will remain at Milan, with or without Gimenez.
