CM: Fofana not the final move – Milan aim to give Fonseca a ‘tailor-made mercato’

CM: Fofana not the final move – Milan aim to give Fonseca a ‘tailor-made mercato’

AC Milan’s fourth signing of the summer will soon be made official as Youssouf Fofana is expected for a medical ahead of joining from AS Monaco, but the work is not done there.

As Calciomercato.com report, Milan have ticked the boxes that they wanted to. First a centre-forward arrived to replace Olivier Giroud (Alvaro Morata), then a much-needed centre-back joined (Strahinja Pavlovic) and a right-back more suited to Paulo Fonseca’s game (Emerson Royal), with Fofana next.

However, the headline of the report states that the Milan management already have the ‘next moves planned for a mercato tailor-made for Fonseca’. The squad needs to be thinned out first, in order to be able to include any more signings in the squad list.

Pierre Kalulu is in talks with Juventus, while there are many other candidates to leave from Marco Nasti to Yacine Adli, Ismael Bennacer to Luka Jovic and of course those not part of the project like Divock Origi and Fode Ballo-Toure.

Should these departures materialise in the next few days, a mission that is not easy but not impossible, the Rossoneri would dive back in to seize some opportunities in the last few day, with Lazar Samardzic the main target.

He is leaving Udinese and has been identified as the ‘icing on the cake’ for Milan. However, the Bianconeri need to lower their demands from €25m to €17m, bonuses included, with Atalanta now in the running.

The Morata deputy issue is up in the air, and if it were up to Fonseca he would replace Jovic with Roma’s Tammy Abraham. However, the Serbian wants to play for a spot, as he did last season.
