Clubs circle as €35m-rated defender offered Premier League return
Fikayo Tomori is set to be offered a return to the Premier League in January as clubs circle for the out-of-favour AC Milan defender.
Tomori has made just six starts in Serie A this season after losing his place in the side. The summer arrival of Strahinja Pavlović and competition from Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia has reduced his minutes and several sides are circling ahead of the transfer window.
Newcastle United hold a long-standing interest in Tomori and remain in the hunt for a central defender, having failed to land Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in the summer. The Magpies are lacking depth in central defence with Jamaal Lascelles sidelined with an ACL issue and Sven Botman still not ready to return after almost nine months out.
According to transfer journalist Ekrum Konur, Wolves, Brighton, West Ham and Aston Villa are also monitoring the situation of the England international.
However, English sides could face competition from Juventus. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that head coach Thiago Motta considers Tomori as ‘one of his favourite options for the January window’ as Juve look to reinforce their backline.
AC Milan are reportedly prepared to consider offers in the region of €30m and €35m for the 27-year-old.
Tomori signed for the Italian side from Chelsea in a £25m deal in 2021, after an initial six-month loan spell. He was named in the Serie A Team of the Season after helping Milan to the Scudetto during his first full season with the club.
He has made 157 appearances in all competitions for Milan and has earned five caps for England at senior level.
