‘The club he loves the most’ – Barcelona star’s agent speaks out on Saudi Arabia links
The agent of Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has this week spoken publicly on the speculation linking his client with a potential move to the Middle East.
Chatter surrounding the future of midfielder De Jong has of course begun to mount of late.
With the Dutchman having both slipped down the engine room pecking order of new boss Hansi Flick, and refusing to extend his contract terms beyond their current expiry in the summer of 2026, the Barcelona brass are understood to have begun seeking out potential buyers.
Recent days have even seen it suggested that De Jong could make his way to the riches of the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking during an interview with De Telegraaf, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his client’s Saudi links was put to the former Ajax man’s agent, Ali Dursun.
And Dursun made use of the opportunity to shut any such rumours down once and for all, in assuring:
‘“The reports about a move to Saudi are nonsense. It distracts Frenkie from what he really wants: shining at Barça, the club that he loves the most. Who knows, maybe Barça and Frenkie stay together for a longer time.”
