Clement on Celtic's Kuhn, fitness updates & Kilmarnock

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been talking to the media before his side's Scottish Premiership match against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

Here are the best bits from his press conference:

  • Clement says the progress made by Celtic's flying German winger Nicolas Kuhn over the past year is proof that his players need time to adapt to the Scottish game and shouldn't be judged too early.

  • The Belgian boss also noted that his opposite number at Parkhead spoke at the weekend about being booed off after a win against Ross County a year ago. Fast forward twelve months and Celtic are putting five goals past them in the first 40 minutes. Clement's point was that patience pays off. He's looking for the same from the board and fans at Ibrox, and is confident that if he gets it, he can deliver the success they crave.

  • Clement revealed he has no new injury concerns before Wednesday's match and he’ll know in the next 24 hours whether Dujon Sterling has recovered from his nerve issue in time to make the squad. Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes, he says, are close to being available for full training and matches.

  • Clement wants to see more "sexy wins and sexy football" at Ibrox. He wants more chances, more goals and - crucially - more clinical finishing. "We have to score more and be more lethal in the final third."

  • Clement rejected the notion that this is a chance to move closer to Aberdeen, who host Celtic on Wednesday, arguing it's "not about closing down, it's about taking the points ourselves and not throwing away points like we did against Dundee United". Clement points out that he can't control how many points other teams take so he doesn't let it bother him.

  • The Ibrox boss is wary Derek McInnes' side will sit deep and try to hit Rangers on the counter-attack, so he says his side must be ready for a difficult evening.
