>>> Edmonton oilers fans will be waking up with a smile on their faces and not just because it's fri-yay. >> Connor McDAVID, the redirect. Early in the second overtime. >> Teddy: connor McDAVID scored in double overtime to top the dallas stars 3-2 in game one. In the first overtime period, he took a double minor penalty for high sticking. Game two goes tomorrow night in dallas, texas. Kelsey, your amazing daughter is the biggest connor McDAVID fan in the household. >> Kelsey: she was sleeping. She was very happy. She would be excited. It's funny. We don't watch the oilers and she doesn't watch him play at all. It's his name. And he does a ton of commercials. He is on the tv all of the time. She will see him right away and she recognizes the oilers colours. >> Teddy: are you rooting for edmonton now or are you not because of your history as a calgarian? >> Lindsey: good question. >> Teddy: thank you very much. >> Kelsey: I'm such a bandwagon jumper and I'm proud of it. If there is a canadian team that is going for it, I am like, yay you. >> Teddy: I love it. >> Kelsey: we are going to go to corner brook this morning. It is cloudy. There are rain showers within the region. Not necessarily on the west coast of newfoundland. But certainly the precipitation the region has had has led to how green it is looking outside. That cloudy sky will persist. We have showers and thunderstorms tracking through. Right now, this pocket of cells just off the coastline of cape breton has a lot of lightning and thunder associated with it. It is probably a rumbly start for you if you are in main land, nova scotia. Rain up toward newfoundland as well. Temperatures really vary and so do the conditions across the region. As I was building the weather board that play after this weather forecast with the music, there are several different icons happening in the region. We will see sunshine in parts of new brunswick, including in fredericton. St. John's, you have rain. Heavier rain at times. Corner brook, that chance of showers. Temperatures vary over the next couple of days. In nova scotia, you will see a dip after today for the west coast of newfoundland including corner brook, from 16 today down to single digits by saturday. St. John's, you get a little plume of warmer air coming in for your saturday forecast. Labrador seeing snow flurries continuing for the coastline through today. Partial clearing in the afternoon. But that clear sky you have this morning in new brunswick will give way to showers for the afternoon. Those could manifest into thunderstorms by evening, also impacting prince edward island. Partial clearing in the maritimes overnight. Snow for labrador and rain moving again up toward newfoundland. This little weather system holds steady across northern québec, labrador and newfoundland. Whereas our maritimes, the farther south you are, much more clear it is for saturday. Heading into sunday, we have a few showers that will creep their way into the maritime provinces. Despite the fact that you are quite a small region, you will have varied weather over the next couple of days. For ontario and québec, we are watching a couple of different things. One of them is this system of thunderstorms tracking its way across the U.S. midwest. This has prompted tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings and significant hail in the region. That instability is heading eastward. On the north end of it, we have heavier rain through southeast saskatchewan and southern manitoba. An area of the region is under a rainfall warning that has just been expanded in the last 10 minutes or so. What we are seeing here is 50 to 60 millimeters of rain. We will have northerly winds gusting to 50 to 60km/h. Northerly component of wind will drive a transition of snow for areas on the western side of the rainfall. The other big story in ontario and québec is the temperature. In the south, it's still fairly mild. Farther north including in thunder bay and timmins, for example, temperatures are cooler during the day. And overnight tonight, frost is a considerable risk for all areas in the blue. We will talk more about the

weekend ahead and what you can expect in terms of thunderstorms across the region coming up. For now, here is a look at your local forecast. >> Lindsey: after the break, everybody. Willpower is limited and depletes as you use it, like a tank of gas. It's important to set yourself up for success so you don't rely on willpower alone. Create routines and rituals that remove the need for willpower. For example, stock your fridge with nutritious food or make a habit of putting your phone out of sight and turn off unnecessary notifications. The chicken fingers are great. If there are chicken fingers on the menu, it is not fancy. >> Lindsey: if there is a menu, it's fancy for children. If you can have options, that's fancy. >> Kelsey: try explaining to a child, especially as a boy, who eats as much as an elephant does that you only get one order.
