A dream come true for many sports fans around the country today as the wnba is getting ready to officially announce a new expansion team coming to toronto. An exciting time for women's pro sports that many say will provide a big boost, not only on the court, but off of it as well. >> People just think about the players on the court, but a lot of times people don't understand that having a professional basketball team in your community provides so many more opportunities for outreach. It provides so many different more opportunities for like camps and programming and involvement with the community. >> Tammie: this will be the first wnba team outside of the U.S. the league says that any expansion teams, including toronto's, will begin play for the 2026 season. The team will play out of coca-cola coliseum in downtown toronto, which also hosted toronto's first team in the professional women's hockey league. We'll have more from the official announcement that is expected to happen in just about half an hour's time.

>>> The edmonton oilers could have forward addam henrich back in the lineup tonight. Game 1 is tonight 8:30 eastern time in dallas. Edmonton is our last hope for a canadian stanley cup champion this year. If you're counting, the team also has the most canadian players in the league on its roster. The last time the oilers hoisted lord stanley was in 1990, a canadian team has not won the cup since 1993. >>> Just hours after his spot on the maple leafs bench was filled, the team's former coach sheldon keefe landed a new position in new jersey. The devils officially naming keefe their head coach. He was fired by the leafs following another first round exit at the hands of the boston bruins. They made the post-season five out of the six years he was head coach. >>> New legislation being tabled in ottawa today would extend citizenship to some children born outside of canada. In 2009 the federal conservatives changed the law so canadian parents who were born abroad could not pass down citizenship unless their child was born in canada. Those amendments as well as one withes made in 1977 also stripped thousands of people born out of the country of their canadian citizenship. Last year, the ontario superior court found the current system un unconstitutional as it creates two classes of canadians. As we take a look at montréal, beautiful day there, partly cloudy skies, a high of 26. Got rid of the humidity in southern ontario. Today temperature is 25 but breezy. 16 in thunder bay. Winnipeg today with showers, 13. 12 in regina with cloud cover. Still wet and cool in edmonton and calgary, right around 11. 17 today, but dry conditions in vancouver. 11 through whitehorse, 17 into yellowknife and we'll have temperatures around the freezing mark in iqaluit.
