Our top story tonight, a pedestrian has died after being hit by a trained in langley wednesday afternoon. Langley rcmp has confirmed to city news that one person has died after being hit by a train when they afternoon. Mounties say it happens near two oh fourth street and duncan way at around 4:30 pm. Bc emergency health services told s3 ground ambulances and an air ambulance were sent to the scene where paramedics provided emergency care for one person but they were pronounced dead on sight. We are learning more about the major cyber attack against london drugs that saw stores across western canada closed for a week. The retail pharmacy chain it was the victim of a highly sophisticated group of cyber criminals. >> We're learning more details about the cyber security incident that recently forced london drugs to close all its doors for about a week. On tuesday, the retail and pharmacy chain revealed that was the victim of an attack orchestrated by a sophisticated group of global cyber criminals and they are threatening to release files from its corporate head office which may contain employee information. London drugs says it's unwilling and unable to pay a ransom. >> London drugs has made the wrong call here. If no companies paid, that would be no more ransom where. >> Reporter: a cyber security expert says the group that targeted london drugs is known as lock bit. >> Lock bit is one of the most prolific ransom where operations they have successfully attacked thousands of companies. >> The group has received more than $100 million in ransom demand since its existence. Earlier this month, the U.S. department of state put 10 million-dollar reward for the group's alleged leader, a russian national. Palace says according to a post made unlock its website on tuesday, the group is looking for a $25 million from london drugs within 48 hours but the post was taken down on wednesday. >> Possible explanations would be at -- london drugs... Or that they have agreed to come back to the negotiating table but there are other possibilities to. >> Reporter: city news reached out to london drugs on wednesday, asking if it had paid or was negotiating but the company said there is no update to share. London drugs says it is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for all of its employees. The company has previously said it doesn't believe any customer or patient information has been impacted and it's still thinks that's the case. >> They've said there's no evidence of it being affected but, of course,, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. >> London drugs closed its doors on april 28th because of the attack and started reopening on make forth. Callow says ransom where groups got more than $1 billion in ransoms last year alone. >> Meanwhile, the first nations health authority has also become the victim of a cyber attack. The authority said in a statement found unusual activity on its corporate network on may 13th. allegedly attacked with barrister -- bear spray and feces over the weekend. Police say officers asked three men to move on may 18th because they were blocking a loading bay near franklin street and mclean drive in east vancouver. One of the men allegedly told police he needed to use the washroom and when he was done, police say he threw feces at the officers and attacks them with bear spray, anyone of them in the face. The suspect allegedly fly then hitting a porta potty, refusing to cooperate. Officers fired beanbag shotgun ramps to subdue him. A 42-year-old has been charged with assaulting a police officer. Convicted serial killer robert pickton remains in the icu after an attack on sunday left him with what police described as life-threatening injuries. The federal public safety minister will not say whether his office will publicly release the results of an internal corrections review of the assault. Pickton is in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries when he was attacked at a prison in québec. A 51-year-old inmate is in custody. The minister said the attack shouldn't have happened at the maximum security federal prison that his concern is for staff. >> I'm worried and at the women and men who work in the correctional service that are in danger when these violent incidents take place. I worry about their security. That was the nature of my conversation last evening with commissioner kelly. I want the board of inquiry to look at what measures are appropriate to ensure that kind of risk to the staff network any difficult establishments, dangerous establishments are protected. >> The 74-year-old is serving a life sentence after his 2007 conviction.
