Very -- very above normal activity expected. >> Reporter: some people still rebuilding from severe weather. Seven -- >> Several months of work. Getting tightened up before hurricane season, making sure we keep the water out. >> Reporter: canadians are also being warned of a potentially significant hurricane season. >> We do expect to climate change to worsen the impacts of hurricanes, particularly the rainfall effects and particularly the storm surge impacts. >> We see water temperatures that are of the swarm you are looking at intensity, and the rate of intensification which can be tremendous. >> Reporter: experts say this year is just the latest data concerning trends. >> There have not been eight consecutive years of above average hurricane activity. The last below normal season was in 2015. The rcmp say the move to have ribbon skirts came from a judge's officers themselves. It is human to city news the rcmp says the idea came from the women's indigenous network noting there are 311

regular rcmp members who self identified as indigenous women, nonbinary, or two spirit. The statement adds the ribbon skirt, initiative which supports cultural pride, advances change of the organization, it helps to mend relationships with indigenous people and communities. And cree woman and 60 scoop survivor says she understands what indigenous women within the rcmp would want to wear the ribbon skirt but says the rcmp is passing the work of reconciliation off to indigenous women. >> If it is indigenous that it means the rcmp as an institution is not doing the work. It is the indigenous people that are putting this forward in making this initiative,, wearing the ribbon skirts. The rcmp is like that is good. Reconciliation! >> Cultural transformation and reconciliation, it is not a cockpit of ribbon skirt. It is the restitution of indigenous land and life and the ending of state sanctioned violence and systematic violence as we know it. >> Reporter: assistant assistant professor and red river métis woman is riding a book on the history of policing. She says the rcmp's relationship with indigenous people remains uncomfortable adding that if police want to wear the ribbon skirt, more progress on reconciliation must happen. >> If it was ever appropriate it would be when these colonial institutions adopt and fulfil all 94 calls to action as set out in the trc, as well as the calls to justice put forward in the final inquiry for missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. >> Reporter: in ottawa, xiaoli li, city news. >> That building is known around the world for calgary. >> Reporter: as a group of calgarians continued to try to preserve one of calgary's most iconic fixtures of the city skyline, saddledome changes at olympic park and olympic plaza have some feeling the city's olympic legacy is beginning to fade. >> That is our culture. I am fifth-generation albertan. That is our heritage. Win that is off the landscape, we are going to hurt our image worldwide. >> Reporter: the dope was not the only piece of olympic infrastructures had to come down. In 2018 the ski jumps at cop were decommissioned due to a lack of funding. Olympic plus is about to undergo a major redevelopment. Some people feel calgary is slowly losing its olympic legacy that helped shape the city into what it is today. >> Very sad, actually. I am shocked that they are even doing things like that, especially the saddledome. >> Calgary's progressively changing infrastructure all the time, let us not forget our history. Let us keep it raw, there for people to see and understand. >> Reporter: the calgary municipal land corporation has launched a survey giving calgarians a chance to have their say and what the revamped olympic plaza should look like. Asked for d. Saddledome replacement groundwork for the new arena has already begun. The final design is it to be released but one member was save our saddledome says he hopes the new building will feature some saddledome charm. >> With the new design subway to honour the saddledome, such an important part of calgary, original% calgarians really love that building.
