>> Sarah: recapping our top stories. A toddler harass died from his injuries after being struck by a recycling truck in barrie on thursday afternoon. Police say the 23-month old boy died overnight. Today the investigation into what happened continues as the community grieves the tragic passing. >>> One person has been arrested in the murder of 38-year old sibel duzguner outside a new tecumseh home two years ago. They say they were told their passports were not needed at that time. >> When we asked the agent at the time of booking if we required our passports we are told no. And that we ahead that information at the airport. >> Reporter: but had the family arrived at pearson airport francesca's name on the ticket did not match her passport's. At first they were told it would be an easy fix but it wasn't and she was not allowed on the plane. >> It was a little bit devastating to be kind of ripped apart at that point where they had to leave and I couldn't join them. >> Reporter: she had to buy a new ticket the next day at her own expense for $2800. The family feels exfeedia should cover that cost. >> The fact I couldn't get on the plane was their fault for not making sure my ticket was booked appropriately and properly. >> Reporter: ctv news reached out to expedia and a spokesperson said the name included in the reservation was one that was provided by the traveler over the phone. We had every intention of providing assistance, however quee not make changes as the flight had already been marked as a no-show by the airline partner. In the past, we have done stories on families that had to pay almost a thousand dollars to change the name on a ticket and on a man who was denied boarding a flight because an "s" was missing from his name. The couple still feels they deserve a refund. >> We volunteered to use our passports and were outright told they weren't needed which is had a lead to this problem. >> Reporter: pat foran, ctv news. >> Turning to business news now canada post is losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year and needs to make some major changes to stay competitive that's according to experts. The crown corporation lost $748 million before taxes in 2023. Its second worst year on record. Some say higher stamp prices, a more efficient delivery network and expansion into new areas like banking and government services could lead to better profits. Canada post must make daily rounds to every address locking nemean operational model that hasn't been profitable since 2017.
