[ ] >> Patricia: westjet plans to launch a new cheaper fare category that would be available to travellers willing to fly without a carry-on bag. The new option is meant to appeal to the most budget conscious travellers and to free up overhead bin space for other passengers. Today's radio question of the day asks, could you travel without a carry-on bag? >> Come on, if they're wanting to save a buck, that's not how to do it. The average person travelling has already saved and allocated almost every penny so they can not be destitute when they get home. [ Laughter ] it doesn't make any sense to me! >> Patricia: kristy cameron is here. Absolutely if you're just going to toronto for the day, for meetings and you're coming back, you don't need your pyjamas or output for the next day, but otherwise pretty tough. >> Kristy: if you're a snowbird and you have a separate property and a separate wardrobe so you can fly down to tampa and where everything there or if you have a sister that's your same size, or if you're willing to purchase your wardrobe when you get to your destination, but that seems pretty pricey. I couldn't do this. I'm a carry-on traveller, I always have been I've got my carry-on luggage, my legal -- little really suitcase and I stuff everything in there. If I were whittled down to just a knapsack or purse, one of my wearing on vacation? Just bikinis? Where my going what kind of destination is this? >> Patricia: it's a bit ridiculous. So many more people going carry-on then wanting to check a bag because they are concerned the bag won't arrive so there's no room in the overhead bin. There's the little cartoon of the engineer with the bubble above their head saying, who would've thought everyone would want to bring a bag? Who would know everyone would want to travel with their stuff? >> Kristy: we end up with people abusing it as usual where they say, I'm good with just my little purse and they're stuffing everything in it and it becomes a boulder. >> Patricia: or you wear six layers with a big coat and sweating it out as you get on, let us bring a carry-on bag! You can listen to kristy cameron on news talk 580 cfra weekdays from two until 6:00.
