The treasury board president weighing into night on the future of remote work for thousands of public servants only weeks after the government's new hybrid office mandate was unveiled. Natalie van rooy is live in studio with the latest. >> Reporter: that update was three weeks ago and mandating workers to be in the office three days a week starting this fall. According to a poll by the angus reid institute, 59% of canadians support federal workers spending more time in the office while 47% in a public sector union support federal workers spending more time in the office and 41% in a public sector union strongly opposed. A number of public servants also rallied outside city hall this morning where the mayor's breakfast was held. More on that tonight at six. >> Patricia: a busy morning.

At the same time we are talking about two highly sought after programs filling a need in the community. The board of governors is expected to vote on june 3rd whether or not to send the hairstyling aestheticians programs. They graduate more than 200 students each year. The college says, it's part of a strategic process that instructors we spoke with say it all mean the end of highly sought after programs that our female dominated and in high demand. >> Is a great shortage. We lost a lot of talented professionals because there was huge closures happening during the pandemic. Our industry was one of the most impact -- biggest impact if you calculate all the dates, it was a most a year closed. To fill that gap, we need programs like this. >> Reporter: it's estimated within the next five to ten years, a shortage of hairstylists will grow to 10,000 nationwide according to government data.
