He wants the bridge to become the balkman turner overdrive bridge for a five-year period named of course after the legendary rock band led by

winnipegger randy balkman. Report to city hall says the honour would not only pay tribute to the band's musical legacy but serve as a point of interest encouraging tourism and to foster a sense of pride in the city's cultural heritage. That report will be discussed at a committee meeting next tuesday. >>> A major fundraiser is being launched to help renovate a historic church in winnipeg. A production company is presenting a radio play called journey to the centre of the earth. Money raised will help fix up west minister united church. We have 1950 style where you have live sound affects happening on stage a live piano player. A professor goes on a journey to iceland with his relunctent nephew to try to find the centre of the earth. >> Reporter: I think I saw the movie back in the day. I think my dad may have rented it. It is science fiction obviously. >> Absolutely. Yes. They made a movie of it around the 50's 60's and brendan fraser did a version. This one is based on the only 1800 novel. >> Reporter: tell us about your role in this. >> I have been the organizer and the set builder. I have built all of the sets including some transition formational sets that will start in the radio station but who knows where you will end up by the end. Make sure you come in and see. >> Reporter: radio is sort of my first love. I'm looking at the sets and sound affect will play a huge role. >> Yes they'll be sound affects live with in creative ways to make the sound of horses, of ships and the winds. So it will be really entertaining to watch the artists at work. >> Reporter: I'm going by memory because I saw this when I was a kid. Don't they have a big drilling ship that goes down there? >> There is no big drill in this one. They are very creative in the way this they go down to the earth. >> Reporter: okay. You obviously enjoy this. >> Absolutely. This is a passion of mine and crystals. This is the first show we will put it on. >> Reporter: you also were involved in a play it is a wonderful life and you know with jimmy stuart and everything like that that's my favourite. >> Yeses there. A different theater company called seven ages that we were both involved with back in december at the gas station. That was a fantastic time. The city's executive policy committee has voted in favour of a motion that seeks to remove a member of the winnipeg police board. That motion passing yesterday after very brief discussion on removing kyle mason from the board replacing him with a former police board member colleen mayor. He has breached the code of ethical conduct. Both the mayor and -- were asked for further details. Both said none could be given. >> Questions specific to that item, I'll defer to the police board chair. Councillor marcus chambers to answer those questions as it is really that specifically as a police board matter. >> I don't want to stone wall. I don't want to, you know, provide misinformation. I want to ensure that process and is procedures are followed. This is a very serious matter. Matter for me and a matter for the board and we just want to make sure that that it is done correctly and fairly. >> Gabrielle: before joining the board, mason founded and ran the north and family centre in winnipeg. He said that he chose to resign from the board on may 3rd. He says that he was pulled over early there are year and ticketed for driving without proper insurance and he says that he resigned after a number of discussions with the board.
