Look at the last few days in winnipeg to be warmer but for now we're going to be still below seasonal. 17 is our temperature for this afternoon. We're looking at a mainly cloudy sky and a chance of showers coming up here later on. So give you a like at that right now. Enthis morning looking at rain showers and northern sections of the province including northeastern manitoba but coming up this afternoon, we're going to see the rain scatter across the province including around winnipeg and sections of southern manitoba, northwestern ontario as you can see. Going into tonight, early tomorrow morning, cloud coverage here in southern manitoba but we're not looking at much for precipitation over the coming days. You won't see much for the rainfall amounts like we're seeing in winnipeg, portage, brandon, goose eggs there. For fisher branch, two millimetres. Dauphin, swan river, the pas, a millimetre or so. Emmerson at five millimetres. A look at what we've got for the next three days. Going to see the temperatures warm up as we get to the halfway point of the week. For tomorrow in brandon, thompson and winnipeg, highs of 17 but lots of sunshine coming up on wednesday, folks. Thompson getting up to 21 and we'll see 23° in winnipeg and brandon. That's a look at weather. >> Announcer: you're watching global news. >> Moses: >> Moses: as inflation continue to rise, so does the feeling of financial insecurity. We breakdown how canadians are being impacted. >> Survey results from fp canada uncover a high percentage of canadians are feeling financial stress. They've even reported an impact on their well-being. Joining us this morning to discuss the findings is founder and C.E.O. of astra financial services. Good morning. Thank you so much for joining us. >> No problem. Thanks for having me. >> To start off us this morning, can you speak a little bit to where the percentage is sitting this year compared to previous years? >> The key findings from fp canada index report, canadian state money as their top number one source of stress and this is a steady increase year over year. We're seeing that trend moving up and this year it's 44%. Last year was less than that so this is something that I think is really good question're talking about today because of the money worries that's going on right now. >> The results have also uncovered a percentage of canadian whose are feeling confident in their strategy to reduce the stress. What are some of the most common techniques? >> Yeah, so interestingly enough, with it being the number one stress but we're also seeing, so the silver lining here is we're seeing there's some hope and optimism compared to last year. That is great news so some of the things that we're doing so here in saskatchewan what I can specifically say is that 92% of saskatchewan people have taken at least one action to reduce financial stress. That is embracing strategies like paying down debt. Of course with our high interest rates and our mortgage renewals coming up, one of the -- the really good fired in our butt that got lit was better deal with some of this debt because it's going to cost a lot more. That's one thing we've been doing. The other one is tracking expenses so we've been talking more about money. So we've become more aware about it. The other one is saving more. Starting to realize how important and I think this personally I think it started during covid. We saw how important it was to have cash savings. Our emergency savings bucket.

those are some of the trends we're seeing and here in saskatchewan, it's great news we can say 92% of us have been taking that action. >> Is there an age demographic that seems to be more susceptible to this than others? >> The one thing in this finding, I've got it here and reading it, it was the young people. As a parent of young adults this struck me quite a bit. Younger generations are experiencing the highest level of financial stress with half of canadians under the age of 35 citing money as that top stressor. So the other thing that nearly three quarters of them have a negative impact in their life because of this so I know our young people are having a hard time. >> What can canadians do overall to improve their financial well-being? >> One thing that we did find is they're more often getting financial plans and asking for advice. That's ease fantastic trend we're seeing. The rest of us, the same thing. >> Just like we're doing in saskatchewan, tracking our expenses and managing our money. We saw a 10% reduction of stress with people who worked with a certified financial planner. Not tooting my own horn here. I can quantify this. It will help. We're not meant to navigate the complexities of money alone. This is about reaching out finding a planner, finding an expert to help kind of be a cheerleader, your coach and that's going to help reduce some of the stress. So the tracking money, paying down debt and having a savings bucket are things you can do right now and find that coaching. >> Those are some great tips. Thanks again for joining us here this morning. >> Thanks so much. >> Moses: stay with us. Your local headlines are announcer: What is StackTV? Let's find out.
