For now our top story. >> Gabrielle: police say one person was taken to hospital after a stabbing in osbourne village. Happened saturday night around 9 between a shoppers drug mart and safeway. That investigation is on going. No word on the victim or if any arrests >>> The clean up continues after a blaze early sunday morning in the core. Firefighters got the call to a two-story building that was just before 1 A.M. one resident was looked at paramedics but didn't have to be taken to hospital. An early investigation says it was caused by an electric malfunction >>> A convenient store was tore down after a fire. Firefighters got the call late friday night. That's where they found the commercial building engulfed in heavy smoke. One person managed to get out before crews got there. Was looked at paramedics but not taken to hospital. Nobody else was hurt thankfully. People inside nearby suits were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze

>>> In education news morning, the province says the grade 12 english language standards test which was supposed to be taken today has been suspended. The province is siting quote an issue regarding necessary permissions to use the material within the tests. In an email to global news a provincial spokesperson said a new date will be made early next week. In march the government reinstated grade 10 and 12 exams after the province announced they planned to revised the provincial exam system. >>> A recent drug poisoning death at the university of victoria is sparking calls for british columbia to make cpr and naloxone training mandatory in that province. Her parents say the tragedy was preventible and they want the province to take action. We have the story. >> Reporter: her story a chilling reminder of the grip of the toxic drug crisis. 18-year-old sydney died in hospital in january after a cardiac arrest due to fentanyl poisoning in a dorm room according to her parents. >> Your heart is broken if anybody had to go through the same heart ache. >> Reporter: they lost their 26-year-old son ryan seven years ago to fentanyl poisoning. They are advocating if accurately labelling the deaths rather than individual choices. >> What killed sydney, what killed ryan and the vast majority of those that we have lost is the toxic supply of drugs. >> Reporter: mental health and drug awareness advocate who lost her brother through drug crisis is focussing on getting access to the drugs capable of reversing the drug overdose. The death has sparked a rea-assessment for access to income tax loan on campuses. >> It is happening across canada in all walks of life. >> Reporter: the family started a website using 9-1-1 call recording they detail the timeline of the death of the first year science student and explain why they claim overwhelming failures contributed. The responders had no access to naloxone in the dorm. In a statement the university said that the security officers followed the training. These efforts did not save sydney live but another student that night. >> There are serious questions that need to be answered. >> Reporter: which is easier to give then thaen injectable and in discussions about adding cpr training at a mandatory lesson in high school. >> Even if someone were to take one hand on top of the other hand find the centre of a chest of a victim they would make a difference. >> Reporter: it is renewing calls for action to implement life saving measures. The event at wood haven park aims to raise critical funds for cystic fib rosis. The event has raised more than $40 million since it launched in 2005. It takes place in over 40 communities across canada and money raised supports canada's work to lengthen and improve the lives of over 4,400 canadians who live with the condition. Participants say talking part in the walk is crucial for public awareness. >> These walks are often the only opportunity that members of our community have to get together because they live all across manitoba.
