movie. >> Tracy: well, let's stay on that theme, then. Because when you find a bestie that will check the rate at which your water is breaking or how dilated you are, like, I mean, this is friendship. >> Yes, yes. >> Tracy: how much of this film is actually a love story about friendship? Because that is -- that theme was beautiful to me throughout >> Yeah, I mean, the whole -- I think that's the core, the seed. This list we put together, we were like, this is so funny. Like the amniocentesis scene. You don't have to do anything except the fact that it exists to make it funny. I didn't have one, josh's wife doesn't have one. Hearing about what it is, I get it. I can imagine that happening to a horse or a cow. Human woman? Like, that's crazy. There is so little we had to do to make the reality funny. But the thread that kept pulling us through the story was how friendships change during this time. >> Tracy: yeah. >> And how the uncertainty of the loss you are definitely going to endure is a big deal. >> Tracy: it is. It absolutely is. We don't talk about the platonic relationships enough. They're so crucial! >> Yes. >> Tracy: I could go on and on. Not a wasted scene. All incredible, deep, deep, deep, but also funny af! Fun sunny funny! >> Thank you. >> Tracy: "babes" is out in theatres tomorrow, everyone. Give her some love! [ applause ] >> Thank you, appreciate you. >> Tracy: well done! We've talked about babies. We have to talk about news. Over to tammie with some news. >> Good luck [ Laughter ]. [ ] >> Tammie: well, it is history in the making. Women's professional basketball is coming to canada. Officials are making the announcement in toronto right now as the city has been awarded the wnba's first franchise outside of the U.S. our caryn ceolin is joining us live now from just outside of the news conference with more on what this means for canadian basketball fans. Good morning, caryn. >> Caryn: good morning, tammie. So, yes, as you mentioned, any moment now at hotel x it will be officially announced that toronto has been awarded the wnba's first franchise outside of the U.S. with canada's expansion team slated to hit the court in 2026. So we know that the team will be owned by kilmer sports ventures, that's a division of the group owned by toronto billionaire larry tanenbaum. He is a minority owner as well as the chairman of maple leafs sports and entertainment, which owns a number of toronto franchises including the raptors. So what we know is that toronto's new team will be playing at the 8700 seat coca-cola coliseum at toronto's exhibition place with the opportunity to move up to scotiabank arena on occasion. This will be the franchise's 14th -- the league's 14th franchise, I should say. Another thing we know for sure, tammie is that fans, they're going to be packing the house. Last year, the wnba sold out pre-season games here in canada at scotiabank arena. The league itself had its most watched regular season as well as one of its highest average attendances in recent years in 2023. And the league's commissioner has previously said that expanding outside the U.S. gives young girls and boys the opportunity elsewhere to see that women's professional basketball is important too. Now larry tanenbaum, he did speak with the associated press ahead of this morning's official announcement. He said investing in women's sports is good business. He says women's basketball and women's sports in particular is not just a moment. It's a movement. And it is only just beginning. So, again, canada being awarded the wnba's first wnba franchise outside of the u.s., all those details will be revealed any moment now in a press conference that's set to begin here at hotel x. We will bring you all the details right here on "bt." >> Tammie: coming up at 9:30, we will check back in with you to get the latest. That is caryn ceolin live in downtown toronto this morning.

>>> The edmonton oilers could have forward adam henrique back in the lineup as they prepare to take on the dallas stars in the western conference final. Game 1 is set for tonight at 8:30 eastern time in dallas. Edmonton is our last hope for a canadian stanley cup champion this year. And if you're counting, the team as the most canadian players in the league on its roster. The last time the oilers hoisted lord stanley was in 1990 and a canadian team hasn't won the cup since 1993. >>> Shortly after his spot on the maple leafs bench was filled the team's former coach sheldon keefe has landed a new position in new jersey. That is a bright spot as well. The devils officially naming keefe their new head coach. He was fired by the leafs following another first round exit of the playoffs at the hands of the boston bruins. The team made the post-season five out of the six years that he was head coach. Right now it's 9:05 here on "bt." time to take a look at the forecast from coast to coast to coast. We're going to get that forecast from orangeville, ontario. That's where we find our frank ferragine this morning. Morning, frank. >> Frank: good morning. Sorry, I'm staring at the screen. >> Tracy: it was a lovely screen. >> Meredith: just staring at the bright spot. >> Devo: you guys had a whirlwind of a time over the last half hour. >> Meredith: we did a little bit. >> Tracy: a lot of chitty-chats. >> Meredith: power house women on the show dropping gems. >> Tracy: 99% of what you worry about is not going to happen. [ speaking simultaneously ] >> Tammie: I was like, oh . . . >> Tracy: we have to stop worry worrying so much. We're wasting time. >> Meredith: and missing our purpose. Missing -- [ speaking simultaneously ] >> Meredith: yeah, be present. I heard that being present is a break from the past and the future. I liked that too. >> Tracy: that's very nice. >> Tammie: yeah, mm-hmm. >> Meredith: anyway, devo . . . >> Tracy: he was -- [ speaking simultaneously ] >> Devo: bright spot, that's how we do. >> Meredith: it continues with the girl power theme. Christine sinclair, the fabulous athlete that she is, soccer's best, is getting herself a barbie. A barbie! In continued celebration of barbie's 65th anniversary, the brand is going to be honouring athletes from around the world, including christine sinclair, sockcer soccer's greatest scorer with 190 goals to her name. >> Tracy: high five. >> Meredith: and evacuee williamson in this group. The 299 queen street west from christine says I shine the light of journeys in sport. Young girls will feel to pursue their dreams. I just love what the brand of barbie has turned into. >> Tracy: me too! I was a barbie girl. I mean, I was probably playi barbies up until 13 years old, full intricate plots. You know? All the neighbours come over to our front porch. I had so many barbies. That was a crucial part of my world. The fact that she's become a career woman, a scientist, an athlete, it went there. And I love that we can embrace it happily and sort of back off of her like waist to thigh circumference circumference ratio. >> Meredith: yeah, there was a going on. >> Tammie: isla gets barbie all the time. When I look at it, I say what's different about this barbie? She looks like she has hips and thighs. Oh, good bs! Thank you so much! Hat and when you see the christine sinclair doll, I
