Is a kind of think you might not think to grow here, could you grow figs in the maritimes? You can. And needs to be just like annual vegetable you need to have the right area of the garden, the right sunlight, or shade are well bring in soil all of the conditions have to be right in order to plant fruits and berries just like all of the other plants. So I have a selection in front of us here that are really adaptable to our atlantic canadian climate. Start me off. >> What we have. >> I have two lines of your. This one here is an arctic q. Week it's a hardened q. Week it will be a vine this is really good if you're looking for a bit of a climbing plant that's going to provide some shelter may be a bit of privacy screen. Great can do some thing very similar. Those are my favourite vines, when it comes to fruit. Strawberries. Strawberries grow so well here, you can get strawberries at the transplant you can get strawberries at their roots. Directly in the ground. One of the things I like to caution people with strawberries as wonderful as they are they can be highly invasive, you want to make sure you have them contained in the spot you want them. They won't take over and they're really hard to get rid of. Good or bad cranberries. We can grow cranberries here. Cranberries are very different from vine these will be a very short plans, they like a body area they like moist and a bit

of shade. Blueberries. That slow-growing berries, absolutely. Hybrid blueberries, you can tolerate a bit of shade so if you have a part shade area and you're looking for a nice shrub I actually planned blueberries in my yard, mark great ate visible interest we eat the fruit off of them, but it provides a lovely shrub. Visual interest. I had my propane tank with a. And then these are romeo and juliet's, they are partners part of the romance series, these are jerry trees -- cherry trees which up the valley by the university of saskatchewan. Really hardy and our area, they grow really well, and they will produce wonderful delicious jerry's. >> I feel like what you're saying isn't just know what you are growing before you try to grow it in a certain place. Not all varieties of cherries you can grow in the maritimes, it's on yes. >> It's knowing what's in your garden the conditions you have to work like, and then also making sure you put the right neutrons in the ground. >> Also. Emily nice to see you. Will see you next week. Speed here is kalin. >> Kalin: some of the grounds around that region will be catching a bit of rain from some showers and thunderstorms moving in. This dramatic video showing what appears to be a possible tornado or funnel crowd -- cloud but it was taken by a viewer in alice in ontario at 930 last night residents described the scene as a surreal, tornado warning has been issued by environment canada but there's no confirmation if this was, in fact, of tornado, the storms now, powered more than 8000

hydro one customers, it really does seem surreal, does not seem like canadian weather at all. >> Kalin: I've been in those thunder sums before it's a very eerie feeling we talked about how the eclipse turned day into night, a period of time, it's almost a very similar feeling when you got one of those intense thunderstorms because of so much moisture tied up with them and those dark clouds move in it's almost like you get to nighttime. Does not come with a very nice weather comes with some very dangerous conditions at times. One and take a look at fredericton, today was warm, areas of new brunswick throughout the day today with passing rounds of some rain and somebody storms. Another band of broken showers and thunderstorms moving in. It's what I'm going to keep you updated on throughout this evening. Because of these thunderstorms looking a bit stronger side producing frequent lightning, downpours potential for some stronger wind gusts and some of them could have some point sized hail. Maybe between a nickel or something closer to eye to any. As moving in. We have a severe thunderstorm warnings out for the county, victoria county, down the carleton county severe thunderstorm watch extends across most of the west of new brunswick highlighted in through the yellow. And there's an ongoing risk for that province is moved to the through the first part of this evening, also risk that there could be some more thunderstorms around prince edward island. Parts of nova scotia has moved through this evening and tonight taking a closer look at radar. There were a pair of stronger thunderstorms were moving in passive vicinity of woodstock in another pass perth-andover you can probably tell from the radar loop here that these are moving fairly quickly. They're headed from the west off towards the east at near 60 kilometres per hour. So the fast-moving storms to bring downpours, but actually the faster speed with them limits the risk of things like extensive flooding because of the higher rainfall rates now running ahead of that line. It was a small thunderstorm that popped up, moved on quickly from the st. John area. St. John, you are not completely clear the risk of thunderstorms because of that line. The continues to move out of maine and into the province of new brunswick. We also have a couple spotty thunderstorms that popped up around prince edward island. The risk to the risk of seeing some few more thunderstorms evening for prince edward island. Risk carrying on until midnight. There were a few thunderstorms early this morning, and even this afternoon around cumberland county and nova scotia but they'll be a further risk of thunderstorms for the province of nova scotia. As we move through it tonight. Especially during the overnight hours. Weather system that's kicking off of the thunderstorms is a cold front it's the same front that triggered severe storms and parts of ontario and québec yesterday. More favourable conditions for rotation with those thunderstorms and that's why there was a higher concern for two nato activity with them for those two provinces compared to us here in the maritimes. On timeline cloud cover and precipitation as we move to around the 8:00 pm hour, the chance of thunderstorms basely be coming to an end around the northwestern half of new brunswick. Still ongoing in the southeastern corner of the province and around prince edward island. Southeast and new brunswick should be getting out a risk of thunderstorms by around 10:00 pm, and prince at wood island follows shortly after between 10:00 pm and midnight. At that point in time there is going to be a chance of a some isolated thunderstorms or areas of nova scotia, maybe higher chance in the southwest and locations in cape breton that risk of thunderstorms will continue especially when the latin coastline of nova scotia during the overnight hours coming to an end early friday morning. Into the forecast for tomorrow they do change direction of it becoming west and northwest went on the breezy side, that will start to bring some less humid air into the maritimes though, temperatures for tonight still in a milder side with low flows between nine and 50 degrees, and high temptress in the forecast for tomorrow. More may heat some of the high heat reaching mid to high twenties. Will take a look at whether waterford tonight. The nice weather watcher is 7-year-old parson from mary joseph nova scotia they sent us a drawing of hot wheels out in the sun thank you. If you like to be a weather watcher come to see to be weather watchers po box 6053 halifax nova scotia or e-mail kalin doubt mitchell at bell media.ca.
