At the university of toronto has made an offer to the representatives of a pro-palestinian encampment in response to demands from protesters. Cp24's going to schedule. U.S. live from the university for more lindsay. >> Yeah, that's right on these demands have demanded really over the last couple of weeks. I'll step of the way. So you can see this encampment behind me here at university of toronto. This might be a familiar sight to you at this point, if you're around this area or if you've been watching us because this has been the case here at the university for the last couple of weeks. Of course, we've seen these encampments all over the U.S. and then creeping into canada over the last couple of weeks. But the students have really been demanding universities to divest from direct and indirect investments that support israel. And the latest now is that the university put an off-road and to give him a little bit of an announcement today, saying that it will not cut ties with israel. Universities, but it will explore disclosure of investment south. That notice came out today and the offer, as you came out today, the students have 24 hours to consider this latest offer, which is on a bid to end this encampment. Now the offer includes an invitation for students to attend the university's business board of governing council meeting, which is on june 19th to present their demands of the table as well. That offer includes a working group to consider options for disclosure and greater transparency of investments. Now, if students do not accept this offer over the next 24 hours, the university says it will be issuing a trespass notice. And the school's president said today it will also pursue any subsequent legal stop. So it sounds as though the university might be taking a stand here this encampment continues. Although we have heard the university, you some strong words over the last couple of weeks and then nothing hop. And so we'll have to wait and see what happens. But the president says that the university is also happy to continue negotiations and continue talking. Here's more. >> The students understood that this was our best believe that recognize we're serious about ending the encampment sooner rather than later. And that the ball is now in their court to really decide on the

commitments that we're offering. In exchange commitments asking for from them acceptable. We hope that they will say yes. >> And so we'll have to see fell as I mentioned, that's a 24 hour period that the students have now to look over this offer and decide what they want to do with it. This encampment is here and since the beginning, students have said they're not going to go anywhere until their demands are not. So we're going to try to talk to a couple people see what they're thinking on the eve before they have to come to a decision and we'll have to wait and see what happens. Back to alright times taking, thank you very much. Lindsay. >> As a toronto city council as well, they're back at it again, continue to debate and dozens of items still on the agenda during the second day of meetings, city council has voted to allow small electric cars with a maximum speed of 50 kilometres an hour on streets. However, it is legal to own one of city staff also admitted that there is little police enforcement of the e-scooter ban. >> By refusing to regulate them, we're just washing our hands and not taking any action. Schuette is do need regulation. They have absolutely no place on the sidewalk. We need to be doing much more to keep motorized vehicles off the sidewalk. But as we go to the bike lanes, there is a safe place for them to go.
