>> Police obviously taking what happened here very seriously. They are still investigating. They don't have any update for us just yet. But what we do know so far, they were called to the school about 5. Am on saturday over reports of shots fired at the school. They say when they arrived, they found evidence of the gunfire. When I talked to the principal earlier, he also told me that they found that evidence, in fact, is that the window just behind me here, it's boarded up this afternoon. They also say they have access to security footage in that footage, the principal told me you can see a car parked across the street to people got out of the car. They walked right up to the fencing. That actually is already in place to protect this private school. And that's when the shots were fired directly at the building. Now we have been given access to that video. We know of priest police, but be going over that footage is well, we're waiting to see if they have any sort of a description for a suspect or suspects as to who is responsible for this. We can tell you leena bakari, a really significant police presence in this area. First thing this morning, we were here very, very early. Police were set up just outside of the school. And so it usually takes about 24 to 48 hours for a court hearing to be scheduled after an injunction was filed. So we're waiting to hear what happens but in the meantime, we know the negotiations between the university and students picked up last night. It's expected to resume today this evening at 5:00pm to try to come to some kind of peaceful resolution. We also spoke just a few minutes ago, bakari only not with erin one of the students who is has kind of become one of the media people for this encampment. And so, >> You know, the injunction on pause until tomorrow. The court said that, yeah, they're going to postpone the hearing until tomorrow. So we'll have to kind of wait and see. >> The university of toronto says it will be with pro-palestinian protesters today, this after they refuse today's atm deadline to leave. A solidarity gathering was held at a jewish school hit by gunfire over the weekend. The mayor and police chief attended to show their support. And a teenage boy is the city's latest murder victim who died in hospital after being shot overnight in the warden and danforth road area. It's 1:00 19 degrees from 299 queen street west. This is toronto's breaking news cp24. Good afternoon. I'm bakari savage. Pro-palestinian protesters are joined by labour unions, faculty and staff as a defiant trespass order to lead king's college circle. Cp24 sunday. Cat is live at the u of t with the latest lindsay. >> Yeah, that trump osnos the deadline for it was a day on this morning. It was filed on friday. And the protesters here in this encampment had side all weekend. They're not leaving and am came and went this morning and they didn't leave for the encampment is still here. And it looks as though no one is planning to dismantle it at any point in time. So what's happening now is the university of toronto has filed for a court injunction to evict these protesters. And we do have a statement from the university that was sent to us this hour. Our e part of that for you now it says the notice of motion is proceeding normally and will be accessible through the usual process once it's filed at the court 3.30 university avenue. We continue to engage in discussions with students representing those in the encampment and hope they will bring the unauthorized encampment to a peaceful and usually takes 24 to 48 hours. Bakari, for court date to be scheduled. I file injunction has been filed. So we're waiting on that front, but we have been speaking with protesters here about, you know, why they chose to stay and what it means to them to stay. And about the ongoing negotiations between the university and the students. Here is plus. >> With 3 main demands our main. Since thursday, when we received the first written offer the ut we sent a counteroffer right kind of senior demands, what our lines are, what we're actually interested in seeing. And so we presented that to them at the and then they spent, you know, what our trying to caucus and figure out, you know, their next steps and you know, we kind of have to see what happens again. Really, the ball's in their court right? Ed students are here. It will continue to be here. They will and meant despite the threats of police, despite the threats of academic, the precautions. So 25 days now, bakari, students have been camping out the university part ways with other israeli academic institutions the university has said it will not do. >> But also demanding, it disclosed its financial investments when it comes to israel. Something else that the university has not committed to as of yet. So we're still waiting again. Those negotiations between the university and students expected to pick up today at 5:00pm. So potentially we could come to some kind of peaceful resolution before that injunction is filed. Otherwise, we're waiting for that court hearing and we're waiting to hear about a scheduled back to the party lot from the u of t campus cp24's lindsay, this cat. Thank you. >> Well, so the mayor and chief of police to show their support. And in north york jewish girls school this morning. He was hit by gunfire over the weekend. According hills is live. At the school near dufferin and finch court. >> And the current is still a heavy police presence at near the school and also in this neighbourhood as a result of the shooting investigation that is underway this morning, though, the solidarity gathering. This was an opportunity for people to come together to show support for the many people who work at the school behind me here. So the staff of the school community, but of course, the students, many going into school feeling pretty concerned, given that at some point over the weekend, somebody fired a gun in the direction of this. All girls elementary school, this jewish elementary school as they say, police are investigating and many are just devastated that something like this could happen to their community at a time when they're already really struggling. I'll let you hear from a parent who I talked to earlier along with the principal of the school. Standing strong. >> We know that they're trying to scare us shies away from our values and who we are, but we're standing strong. We have the support of the community and we trust that you know they're going on behind us strong, we can do it together. >> Often times you stories on the news its ads and try to be empathetic when it's at home. It's a whole different this is not close to home. This is I spent many hours here day and and it was pretty shocking. >> When I talked to the principal here, he told me they do have surveillance video of the shooting that happened over the weekend.

they say that the police were called here around 5 in the morning over reports of gunfire toward the school. And that was confirmed when they saw the evidence of the gunfire. And you can even see that today, but part of the window at the front of the school year all boarded up. The principal said, you know, a bullet went through window, not entirely because it is a protective glass, but he said that, you know, it was damaged. The also said in the surveillance video that he saw from outside of the school, there was a car that pulled up across the street from where weier were there were at looked like 2 people walked right up to the gate. This school is actually surrounded by protective gates and then those 2 individuals of fired at the school and got back in the car and took off. We don't have access to that video just yet, but of course, we know police will be going over that footage will be trying to figure out who's responsible for this and try and track them down. But in the meantime, this community really coming together and trying to support each other. Of course, the school community and the jewish community over to okay. Live in north york, cp24 s courtney heels. >> It's 1:06 19 degrees. It's getting an early look at the roads this afternoon with traffic specialist adwoa nsiah-yeboah. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. This is the eastbound lanes of the 401 adjust as you make your way past dixie in the express collision in the 2 left lanes than another collision. This is on the eastbound lanes of the 4, one through kennedy crews to deal with the collision. The left lane, they've also blocked the end of the on ramp from that's a bit of a hinderance still waiting on the northbound dvp and problems northbound dvp through lawrence collision does have the left lane blocked it even more problems. This is on the lanes of the qew right around north shore crews that deal with the collision. It is in the left lane outside of camera view still have those problems on the eastbound 4, 1, at highway 6 north collision, tying up the 2 right lanes and also problems in stouffville northbound the 404 approaching stouffville road crews dealing with the collision in the right lane. Misled the integrity commissioner under oath. And that this is another example of a member of the premier senior team hiding things from the public. So I'm not mincing words. I think mister sackville should resign. And if he won't, the premier should fire him. >> The rcmp is now investigating the greenbelt removal process. Liberal leader crombie spoke out against the ford government's plan to expand alcohol sales, saying that the premier spending a billion dollars of taxpayer money. Just roll it out a year ahead of schedule. Our health care system is in crisis, a billion dollars could hire 12,000 more nurses.
