We'll have more on that offer coming up.

>>> And thousands of ttc workers have sent out a strike date of june the seventh this is their right as the right to strike was upheld by the provinces top court. >> [ Inaudible ] >> Courtney: full force against their series opener will have highlights from this game straight ahead. >>> Were sitting at 14 degrees really nice look from the waterfront water nice and comfortable at this time I love it just overnight it seems like were into the summerlike weather. >> Billy: did you say the water nice and comfortable with your. [ simultaneous talking ] [ Laughter ] just went out clarify people jumping in its to be nice and brain freeze. >> Comfortable and the temperatures are very comfortable enjoyed to guess it's all a bit of a change ahead. >> Billy: we're going to be seeing a system role in there cannot be bringing some active thunderstorms 9:30 on saturday 9:30 to do and the clouds breakup if we get the lingering shower it will be brief and more isolated so good news I know we have front of the station having their wedding afternoon at four better loose for new it look like would be rainy river the day there's a look at where we operate now 40 degrees northerly wind is about 20 kilometres per hour a little dusty this morning gusting to 40 but this afternoon so back of the woods continued on off the north drawing on colour dryer air with temperatures already sitting in the midteens headed to a high of 26 so this will able to do that work easily unobstructed by club and there's a look at where we operate now we've got the job northerly wind boatloads of sunshine cloud freed 26 degrees for a high today tony five tomorrow and again the bulk of the fa whether from a 9:30 to do and that anything lingering will be brief sunday pretty day mainly sunny on such closer to seasonal seasonal about 21 at that point will hit 23. All the rest of your long-range coming up power there is doing other? >> Lisa: it's sunny and that seems it's also been causing some today's formulae they sound roots this one so if you're just heading out the door though sheets will be your accessory of choiceland putrid these 401 inches definitely lowing up for the fourth and the past the 427 years what happens you can see all these lanes and then they cannot become reduce this is lane realignment for long-term maintenance attorney is adding to your drivetime and then you're driving into that bright sun as the south 400 these 401 really, really slow was 401 through parts of scarborough heading towards midtown already getting busy my going up towards the avenue road stretch and no issues on the don valley parkway or the east gardener that's been loading up through jamieson. >> Courtney: thank you.

>>> Pro-palestinian protesters were part of an encampment at the university of toronto expected to respond this morning to an offer that is meant to bring their demonstrations one and the spring and cp24's melissa duggan who was live at the campus for us this morning. What is the latest here? >> Reporter: yes with that response expected just hours from now from pro-palestinian protesters here at the university of toronto they've been staging an encampment at st. George campus for three weeks now and they're expected to respond to an offering made by the school yesterday university of toronto giving demonstrators 24 hours notice to respond to their offer to and the demonstration or face a trespass notice. Here's more that were hearing from the school. >> The students understood that this was our best offer and I believe that they recognize that we're serious about ending the encampment sooner rather than later and that the ball is now their court to really decide on whether the commitments that we are offering in exchange for commitments were asking for for them are acceptable. We hope that they will see us. >> Reporter: so the commitments coming from the school includes of forming a working group to consider options for the disclosure of school investments but will not and any partnerships with israeli universities as protesters have demanded. Some jewish students on campus they been expressing concern about the demonstrations have a listen. >> Recent events on campus have caused our community to feel unsafe and unwelcome on a campus that you have just as every right to as anybody else students have been blocking other students from entering buildings they've been blocking access to the university campus grounds and that's a problem. There's no other way to put it.

>>> As a lot of you can see like the ongoing encampment on our campuses a very serious issue it's not a peaceful protest. It's a violation of university policies and it's a threat to our safety. And since may 2nd we've seen hateful messages, violent altercations, fires block exits, students being barred from entering buildings and is very clear this chaos that completely disrupts our academic life it cannot be tolerated. >> Courtney: >> Reporter: as far protesters we are expecting to here from them here at st. George campus at 11:00 am. As for the school he know complication ceremonies there set for early next month the school saying those will go ahead no matter what. And interim report due back on this for july the gardener greatly reduced to two lanes of traffic each way between dufferin and strachan for major rehabilitation work it is scheduled to continue for three years. >> I appreciated the commentary in the answers and the thoughtful replies from our staff team tonight we are on it they want to see us do better or there's a rule for this counsel in this administration to exercise some leadership and provide that direction and I'll be honest it shouldn't have taken seven weeks of a horror show to have this conversation. Dish of the midteens up from the beginning and focus on how we could get this done as quickly as possible because of the extent of the impacts. >> Courtney: still at city hall city councilors voted another way to keep people moving allowing such small electric cars with a maximum speed of 50 kilometres an hour on streets e-scooters are banned on streets although it is legal to own them in toronto city staff also admitted there was little police enforcement of the e-scooter band. And speaking of getting around the universe something thousands of pdc workers is formally sent june 7th date as the strike date that follows a ruling by ontario's top court tennis bubble did the right of transit workers to strike the provincial government appealed the ruling that sent the law that the limited to the worker's right to strike was on santos and all. Well that appeal was dismissed today or yesterday that is. Atu local 113 represents about 12,000 operators and other front-line staff at the ttc contract talks continue about the units as they remain far apart on the main issues of job security wages and benefits.

>>> The federal government providing some more insight into why it rejected toronto's request to decriminalize possession of illegal drugs. The addictions minister says this proposal didn't include age restrictions or limit the amount of drugs a person could have and I'm minister says this plan left her deep concerns. She says she decided to do night after toronto refused to amend the proposal to address concerns from her department the application sought to decriminalize possession of all controlled drugs and substances for personal use. >>> New study shows prescriptions for weight loss drugs have skyrocketed six hundred percent in the last three years in the U.S. that is especially true for those who are between the ages of 12 and 25. The senate say the allies is facing a severe, landscape and all members must uphold their commitment to spend at least 2 percent of gdp on defence. Canada agreed to that target back in 2014 but continues to spend well below it. Ottawa currently allocates about 13 percent of gdp to defence and federal government estimates that will rise to 17 percent by 2029, 2030 this is under a new policy but will still miss the goal. >>> Waistcoats as passengers who want to book a cheaper ticket may also have to put up with a little less legroom the airline says some of its larger planes will be reconfigured to add more rows of seats by slimming down into existing ones part of an initiative to bring a low-cost fair option to the majority of its flies. The game just starts right after 63020. Are you jay's fine? >> Lisa: the hormone jacket is back that was a huge talk. >> Courtney: I'm sure it was. >> Lisa: it's a huge deal they revamp it every year it's exciting and I mean look a lot thanks to be done still a lot needs to be and we always start the season and were like you know we still got time. >> Courtney: we do we have a very long season ahead. >> Lisa: we do when I get that early we can just get the bats going on thereon but it's fine we do see a lot coming and I'm very confident that they can make the magic happen. >> Courtney: I definitely think this team can then I just hope maybe it's a slower start and we have very hot finish what else can we do right I'm not going to get disappointed just hope. [ simultaneous talking ] [ Laughter ] speak all right speaking of the old is now turning the early lead at the western conference final.
