We have the angry response now from israel. >> Today, ireland, norway, and spain are united in that we recognize the state of palestine. [ Applause ] >> Reporter: a historic step for three european countries in the latest example of israel's increasing isolation on the world stage. >> These countries encourage and perpetuate war, more conflict, more bloodshed, not less. >> Reporter: tel aviv responding in fury, pulling its ambassadors from the trio. >> Voice of Interpreter: the intention of several european countries to recognize a palestinian state is a reward for terrorism. [ end of interpretation ] [ Applause ] >> Reporter: spain's prime minister maintains that israel has a right to defend itself after hamas' attack on october 7th, but not in the way that it has in gaza. >> Voice of Interpreter: and if one thing is clear to me, it is that prime minister netanyahu has no peace project for palestine. Fighting the terrorist group is legitimate and necessary after the events of october seventh but netanyahu is creating so much pain and so much destruction and so much rancour in gaza and the rest of palestine that the viability of a two state solution is in serious danger. [ end of interpretation ] >> Reporter: canada has been actively pushing for a two state solution but the trudeau liberals maintain that statehood cannot happen while hamas still reigns in the enclave. >> Without guarantees that hamas will not be part of the leadership of a new palestinian state, it would be in my mind, inappropriate for us to declare statehood without those details. >> Reporter: conservative mps were little more succinct. >> Some countries are recognizing the state of palestine, should canada recognize a state of palestine? >> Absolutely not. >> Reporter: most of the world already recognizes palestinian statehood, including 144 out of 193 united nations members. >> Nothing will change today or tomorrow, but it could be significant if this starts a trend and if more states were to follow. >> Reporter: pro- palestinian demonstrators in madrid welcoming the announcement, but say it is still not enough. >> These are empty words. It does us no good to recognize the palestinian state if you continue to sell arms to israel when a genocide is taking place. >> Reporter: ireland, norway, and spain say they will officially recognize palestinian statehood on may 28. Closed captioning is broughtto you in part by the city of Toronto'syard was Help ensure safe and efficient collection by properly setting out your waste. >> It was a scorcher across southern ontario today. Ottawa hitting what he degrees. We were nearly there in toronto. Definitely some thirties toward southwestern ontario and this was before you factor in the humidity. At 1 point it felt about 34 to 35 degrees in toronto so it as a cold front moved through we saw some active weather through southern ontario some severe thunderstorms and all of us felt those strong winds. It's gonna be a breezy day tomorrow but it's going to kind of work in our favour. It's ushering in a cooler air mass and getting rid of all that humidity. Overnight tonight though we dropped down to a low of 16 degrees and the atmosphere is really settling down so we will be partly cloudy through the overnight and sunny through the day tomorrow so this is the cold front that brought us the active weather through the date that is moving out and what is moving in his high-pressure but you will into thursday afternoon just a few fairweather clouds are building in. By friday totally in the clear we are talking about a blue sky needless to say over the next 48 hours load up sunscreen. Sunscreen we will have hide a very high uv indexes and we talk about a very high uv index we will burn within 15 minutes without sun protection so tomorrow morning 18 degrees in the morning, 21 patio whether for lunch I would say. And then into the afternoon a daytime hive 24 feels like 24 and by humidity for a little while. We look at 25 and hamilton brantford kitchener daytime high of 24 degrees in stratford. Sitting at 23, plenty of sunshine across the region even sunnier enter friday. In terms of your winds, com through the overnight and then tomorrow afternoon we bought west northwest winds between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour bring us that fresher air mass. Friday, 26 degrees your sunshine back to seasonal as we head towards the weekend. Slight chance of some afternoon thunderstorms on saturday. Sunday is probably the better day of the weekend 22 degrees than watching for an early week's system that could bring us some rain and much-needed rain -- much-needed rain at that >> Reporter: for many of us, caffeine is something that we used to start our day but if lattes or you thing you might have noticed it started to cost a bit more that according to data collected by technology company where. >> We looked at thousands of coffee shops on squares platform in canada we found the average price of a latte was $5.19 in canada that's up about 5 percent over last year now that actually is outpacing the overall rate of inflation in canada which last month was posted to be about 2.7 percent >> Reporter: while the price of a latte has gone up, here in ontario is not the most expensive place to grab it cup. >> The highest priced we found was in yukon were a latte $6.50 on average I think this makes sense in many ways rural areas both have a higher operating cost and supply the actual product customers is not just coffee shops, you will see across the small business sphere, you see that reflected in the cost of labour and hiring talent. >> Reporter: with the rising cost of inflation many businesses including stereo

coffee roasters have adapted their business model to meet the demand. >> I started this company back in 2018. I've had several cafés and it's been a natural progression from that was to start to roast coffee, but I have been in coffee for about 20 years now and I just want to get closer to coffee sourcing and roasting and doing wholesale for cafés in toronto. >> Reporter: he has not seen anyone get caught over the increase in price over his roast but also said maybe this increase is not enough. >> I've not seen anyone get upset about the price of a latte and in my opinion, the price is still low. I think the price of a latte is one of the best deals out there. The price of coffee in general, I think it could go up more up and I think it should go up more. I think were around just over five dollars on the average for a latte and I'd be happy to signal up to six or seven dollars. The problem is people only see the finished product. They don't all the work assigned to making that coffee, particularly from farm to cup. People have no problem paying eight or nine, ten, 11 dollars for beer for some reason. Baby because they are used to paint a little for coffee that any jump seems like a lot. >> Reporter: the price of a standard cup of coffee is also increased by about 1.5 percent in canada, despite all this, officials tell city news that coffee culture in canada is alive and well with an increase of sales by more than 40 percent.
