City v Chelsea: FPL Gameweek 23 Scout Report
Find out who the Scout is backing to earn vital Fantasy Premier League points this weekend as City host Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s side welcome the Londoners to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 25 January, with kick-off scheduled for 17:30 (UK).
We enter the fixture looking to bounce back from our defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League last time out, but the Blues will take the positives from August’s reverse fixture with Enzo Maresca’s team into the clash.
On that occasion goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic helped us to a 2-0 success at Stamford Bridge as we opened the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with three points.

But we’ll have to be at our very best to win again on Saturday against a Chelsea side who are unbeaten in their last three league matches and sat fourth in the table – one place above City.
It all points to another exciting weekend of top-flight action, and FPL managers will be aiming to maximise their points returns this weekend ahead of Saturday 25 January’s 13:30 (UK) deadline.
With that in mind, see the Scout’s latest tips and tricks below…

CITY STAR
Phil Foden’s (£9.3) back-to-back braces have put him firmly on the radar of Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Gameweek 23.
He has now returned in each of City’s last four Premier League matches with his points returns increasing each time (6, 8, 15 and 19).
Since Gameweek 19, Foden has had 10 attempts on goal, of which half have been classified as big chances.
The Englishman has converted all those big chances. Indeed, only Erling Haaland (£14.8m) has a better expected goals (xG) tally at City in this period.
Alongside his goal threat, since Gameweek 19, Foden has created eight chances for his City team-mates. One of these resulting in an assist.
ONE TO WATCH
Cole Palmer (£11.4m) remains Chelsea’s clearest threat. The midfielder has registered three double-digit returns in the last five matches.
DIFFERENTIALS
Elsewhere, Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard (£6.8m) and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.3m) are low-owned gems who offer great potential in Gameweek 23.
Trossard has produced a goal and two assists in his last two starts and in that time only one player has taken more than his nine shots.
No forward has produced more FPL points (29) in the last three Gameweeks than Mateta, who has scored four goals.
