2026. >> I woke up today saying we're making history today and you don't get to say that too much in your life. >> Lindsay: the room filled with canadian trailblazers from wnba alumni stacy dale and tammy sutton-brown. >> I always hoped for this day. >> To team canada alumni tamara tathumb and kim gauthier. >> I'm so excited of the future of canadian female basketball players. >> Lindsay: the prime minister was on hand for the historic moment, as well as raptors vice-chairman and president masai ujiri, raptor scottie barnes and former raptor kyle lowry. >> Many say women's sports is having a moment. I disagree. Women's sports has arrived. It's a movement. >> Lindsay: the franchise, which will be the leagues' 14th team was able to happen because of billionaire larry tanenbaum's group financially backing it. >> We didn't have anything like this to strive for in the country itself. It didn't exist. And so to stand and be a part of this was -- and just incredibly emotionally high, lifting experience for me. >> We'll see the reaction of it right away in terms of the support and the fan base and the excitement and community work that I know the organization will do and the way that the community will surround the team. >> Lindsay: there is still a lot of work to be done before they launch, including finding a thome name. >> Every single person has has said what is this team's name and colours going to be? We don't know. It's a clean slate so we are very much looking forward to sourcing information and suggestions from the canadian public. >> Lindsay: former raptors V.P. teresa rush, the new president of the wnba expansion team, says they're hoping to find a name that represents women and the country as a whole. >> This isn't just toronto's team. We've got high pressure in place right now so take a look at the map. Almost -- we've got the sun. Popped up some cumulus clouds here today. We've got go north. You've got to go north of wawa into northern ontario before you hit any rain any cloud or any wind. We do have rain coming in the next five days. The yellows and oranges indicate the heavier amounts of accumulation. However it's not every day, not tomorrow and not sunday. We will have a couple of completely dry days there over the next five days. Monday most of that rain is going to fall. We also have a chance on saturday after we get through that sunny day tomorrow. If you've got stuff to do this weekend and you can't get it done sunday because that's our dry day, get it done before lunch on saturday. That's 8 a.m. But as we head through the afternoon, we'll get this passing line of showers. That rolled through pretty quickly there. It only lasted a couple of hours and then we're nice and dry and clear after about 4 p.m. On saturday we should be in the clear. This evening it is still clear. It is still well above seasonal and we're waking up to double digits once again. So those are your morning wake-up temperatures. Through the afternoon, again slightly above seasonal. It's warm. It's low humidity, very comfortable. It's like a comfortable 25 and cooler near the lake. Toronto island may walk away with 17 or 18°. That's what I like to say.
