[ ] >> Tammie: good morning, and we start with very exciting sports news. In just about an hour's time an official announcement that toronto will be getting its very own wnba team will be coming down. This is a first for the league here in canada. Our caryn ceolin is live this morning taking a closer look at this exciting report that came out first last week and now turning into reality with this official announcement this morning. Good morning, caryn. >> Caryn: good morning, tammie. That's right, toronto's wnba franchise is expected to be made official in an announcement at 9 o'clock this morning by kilmer sports ventures, that's a division of the group owned by toronto billionaire larry tanenbaum who has been granted the expansion franchise with the wnba. Now, he's a minority owner and chairman of maple leafs sports and entertainment, which of course owns the raptors. He told the associated press ahead of this morning's official announcement that this is a recognition that not only should we have women's sports but that this is a good business to invest in. We saw that of course with the pwhl selling out everywhere in the league's exhibition games here in canada, the last two seasons, showing the passion of fans in this country for women's basketball. Now I spoke earlier with keesa, she founded the league hoop queens to encourage more women and girls to play the sport. She says this is the latest strong sign of momentum of growing momentum of women's sports. Have a listen. >> For the wnba to now come, it just shows that, you know, we know we have a market here for it and there's also -- they have representation for the next generation and even the current hoopers to aspire. It's our time now. I just want to, you know, say to everybody, you know, get comfortable. Like, even if you're uncomfortable with it, get comfortable. We're here with or without you. And women's basketball is gonna be even greater in canada. >> Caryn: last year the wnba reported its most watched regular season. As for toronto's new team, they're expected to hit the court at the 8700 seat coca-cola coliseum at the exhibition place starting in 2026, tammie. Very exciting. >> Tammie: very exciting indeed and 9 o'clock of course is when that announcement will be officially happening. You can stay with "bt" and caryn ceolin with the latest. Thank you for that, caryn.

>>> We go to mississauga next where a late-night shooting left two men fighting for their lives in hospital. Peel regional police were called to the parking lot of settler's green public school on montevideo drive just after 11 o'clock last night. Paramedics say a young adult male and a middle aged male were found with life-threatening injuries. One was taken to a local hospital, the other air lifted to a trauma centre. Our cameras are there live this morning on scene. Police are still investigating. Peel police say they are in contact with the school to ensure that there are minimal impacts here. The school is staying open today, but the parking lot itself will remain closed. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and the suspect or suspects fled the area. No descriptions have been released. >>> Arrests have been made in a story that we brought you earlier this week. Two teenagers now facing charges after multiple carjackings and a home invasion in the gta. It was around 3:30 on tuesday morning when investigators say three people broke into a home in the yonge and steeles area demanding keys to a mercedes. Police allege the same suspects stole a vehicle hours later from a man filling up gas in missisisuga, and then broke into another home. The suspects were found in markham and arrested after police foot chase. A 19 and 16-year-old are now facing dozens of charges including robbery with a weapon. Officers with still searching for the third suspect. >>> A new survey reveals nearly half of registered practical nursesesre considering leaving the profession. Ceo of we rpn joined us on "bt" this morning to emphasize the need to better support experienced nurses and improve working conditions to ensure quality patient care. >> When you have new grads, new internationally educated nurses, in your system, you need educated -- sorry, experienced nurses who take them by the hand, that sense of judgment that nurses have where they know something is wrong but they don't know why they know it, that comes from experience. If you're losing your experienced nurses, it's not gonna matter how many you bring in. You have to stop the loss of the experienced nurses. >> Tammie: the survey also reveals 80% of respondents have experienced significantly increased stress while the same percentage feel unsupported in their role. The association is calling for legislated nurse-to-patient ratios and competitive nursing wages.
