Police officers are expressing their frustration and emphasizing that anyone involved in street racing will face severe penalties this summer. Now more on the launch of project erase. >> York regional police is a proud partner of project erase and has been for many years. Our mission has never wavered over those years. To change a jerk -- aggressive and dangerous driver behaviour associated with street racing and dangerous driving. >> Reporter: other police are forced -- forces across the gta were on hand to launch the 2024 campaign. Toronto police underlined the importance of the campaign saying that street racing continues to be an issue in the city with more than 1400 related charges by the service in 2023 had more than 500 charges already laid this year. The collaboration involves these gtha sources utilizing each other's resources and technology to catch street racers. They hope by educating the public it will lead to a decrease in these types of calls. >> It's an awareness. And is picking up to social media.
