Last week police announced they had used dna evidence to tie gary allen srery to the deaths of four young women in the calgary area in the 1970's. He was wanted for crimes in his native california. Jasmine king caught up with some who packed the patients to save some cash. >> Jazz and people are always looking for a deal even if it means looking to save at the pump. Across the city prices fluctuate seeing prices from a dollar 34 to $1.58 per litre. And at a time of high inflation saving a couple of dollars on gas can help in the long run from the west end just for gas as people look to save cash anyway that they can. >> Speaker: I came all the way from the west end just for gas because it is literally the cheapest in the city. >> Speaker: how are we supposed to manage all of this went grocery is more, gas is more. But going an extra block and it's 10 cents cheaper. I will do that to get it. >> Reporter: the prices didn't jump to hide during the long weekend and analyst do not expected to in the coming weeks. This spring prices have been fairly consistent as we have seen similar price gas for the last month and a half. Same prices in alberta don't tend to react as quickly to

changes in the markets as they do and the us but the prices be seen edmonton years ago and I actually tend to come down to a simpler explanation. >> Speaker: it's what I referred to many, many years ago and I actually hashtagged it #gas bar shenanigans. But if you're selling it for a dollar and 30 cents you better have a strategy because you are selling gasoline 13 >> Jasmine: mcteague says for a or 14 cents a litre below cost. The oilers taking on the stars in game one of the western conference final. The team hit the ice for one last practice at home wednesday morning. Most of the team skated, except for evander kane who was taking a maintenance day. The lineup is expected to be the same that was used to defeat the canucks. The team then making their way to the airport to board their flight to texas. The players know it was a tough task to send vancouver packing and it will be another battle against the stars. But they're confident they know what needs to be done. >> Speaker: for the playoffs every team that has had successes good defensively. And we have to be a tight checking team and limit the chances that we give up. We know as a team there will be mistakes and there will be chances and the other team has some good players and they will make some plays. But we cannot get away from playing a tight game. >> Speaker: it's nice to be canada's last team. You get support from that many more people. Along 97 avenue and 104 street vehicles making their way in and out through the downtown core as we have some steady volume crossing over walter dale as they make their way into the downtown area along 105 street. Study volume from the south side. Along gateway boulevard as you head in from the south side I wanted to mention drive times the qe2 cell phone if you're heading down toward the airport it's running 8 minutes. It looks like there's some slow spots but overall it looks like it's averaging out nicely and on the west anthony henday if you had eastbound to calgary trail that will take you roughly 10 minutes to get there. One last look at the downtown area this outbound commuters making their way towards the high level bridge and things are moving along well as we are closing out the thursday morning commute. That's her ok tire traffic and let's head over to sky traffic weather. >> Ciara: this is what happens when your parents are professional photographers I think. A perfect photo. Taking the dog out today you may want to grab an extra layer. It is brisk this morning. There could be some scattered showers even pockets of sunshine near the end of the afternoon but we do need to get through the thick cloud coverage right now. Lingering around the city same for fort mcmurray. The sun is trying to come through. Look at how it is shining down on the main street and calgary the sun was trying to come out but it looks like it's behind the clouds again. Weather alerts nothing here for alberta although it northern british columbia still air quality just from the active fires that are still burning but things cleared up here and now we are dealing with rain. Seeing some rain rolled through calgary, hannah and medicine hat into edmonton. We do see scattered showers taking us into this evening but don't worry think should clear up. Mountain park still seeing a rain even into friday you could see some scattered light showers and then throughout the weekend and the mountain parks. But we are in a cool low. Temperatures will come up into the weekend and MID-20s next week we will just need to get the cold front.
