is kate and andrea. Welcome to both of you. Happy to have you here. Andrea tell us a bit about the festival and what you are excited about for this year. >> Speaker: it is 4 days of performances and activities and art experience for all ages. This year we are excited every year it is amazing to see the performances that we can bring in from across the world we've had a lovely performance from ireland and performers coming from the us and across canada. So we are excited to have both local and international performers on all of the stages. >> Daintre: and you mention some of the international performers. What are the performances that you are most excited for? >> Speaker: we have light wire theatre from the us and they are doing a production that is all in the dark and it's all with lighting which is really quite beautiful and the technology is quite incredible and magical there as well. >> Daintre: and I think one of the great things about the children's festival is that it is entertaining and is engaging and it's interactive for the families as well. >> Speaker: absolutely. Speaking the interactive. Another group that we have coming from the us they are two musicians and their songs and dances are completely interactive and high octane and energy filled. >> Daintre: and for anyone that hasn't been to the children's festival what are some of the tips for them? >> Speaker: to go to the website in advance and look at all that is available and plan things out because there is a lot to do. Picking up something like a performance plus pass for the weekend allows you to schedule a show but also drop into any of the other activities on your own schedule and just be there and see what you like and just to go check it out. >> Daintre: and is a good for kids of all ages? >> Speaker: the bulk of it we have programming from davies there's a show for them all the way up to about 12 or so on average but we do try to pick things that the adults would also enjoy with their kids so it's not just sitting through because your child is going to like it really is for all ages. >> Daintre: I like that and let's talk about you, kate because you have been part of the children's festival since you were 11 years old. >> Speaker: I started my first show was in 2015 and it was with saint albert children's theatre. And I remember performing and it was like a dream come true. Getting to be part of it and also getting to do all of the fun activities on the side as well. >> Daintre: and that has spawned into a career for you because you are working with the city doing a drama internship and helping other kids to blossom on the stage. >> Speaker: yes, theatre is a passion of mine. I started off with just being a regular performer. Not thinking much about it but doing it as a fun activity and it blossomed into a great friendship with the director of the children's theatre so now I work and I helped to teach other kids who are interested in making a career out of it and they can learn on thursdays and saturdays. >> Daintre: I love that and we have a musical that is coming in. Tell us a bit about that one. >> Speaker: it's a colourful history lesson and it is about polkadots and squares. And it moves into a town full of squares and she is not accepted out first. Eventually they all learned to grow and learn that their differences actually make them unique. The creator of the show emailed the director and said to be a polkadot is to be any kind of other and I think that is really nice to hear. And it's about anti-bullying and antiracism. And inclusivity. >> Daintre: low we are looking forward to it and of course it's always a fun time for families so thank you so much for coming in this morning. We appreciate it and we are getting excited for the international children's festival of the arts that runs may 30th through to june 2nd and st. Albert.
