run. So invested - that some businesses are seeing a *drop* in customers anytime the oilers hit the ice. Jasmine king has the story. >> Reporter: when the oilers aren't inaction, tarred to find somewhere downtown that isn't packed full of fans. The fan parking ice district plaza sees thousands of people each game and while one arena is full, another sitting empty. The silent eye centre is exactly that during oilers games-- silent, when typically it's quite the opposite. >> Nonstop noise, kids on the ice, kids off the ice, parents everywhere and right now we could throw a bowling ball through your not hit anyone because everyone's focus. >> Reporter: on the oilers the facilities hosting a determinant this weekend but it's nice to book time around game too. Any other night-- all the action would be in their own ranks. >> Games wall-to-wall, to games on the video wall and patch karina crespo will be busy as well. >> Reporter: for anyone looking to the traffic, there's plenty of room after the puck drop by and there's also a lot of spaces like businesses that activate who usually have people lined up to go inside. >> It's been slower-- it's not dead but it's definitely a decline for sure. >> Reporter: activate is a physical and mental gaming facility for challenges of people of all ages. Although they are not seeing a rush during oilers game-- they are still getting in the spirit. >> They love to have fun with the people who are or their fans get them about the game and get them excited about our games because they're excited about the games. So it generates a very positive environment. >> Reporter: of positivity that could hopefully translate to game three victory. Jasmine king, global news. Tell us a little bit about the book we have a coffee here on the table. >> Don levers: I started off the book in 2019 and it's about 4 men who landed on the beaches of normandy on june 6th of 1994 and they all had what I referred to as there "what if moments". I'm sure you had one or two in your life and they all survived in the three canadians had 32 direct descendents before because they did survive and there's a lot men who didn't. >> Lisa: some stories to be told therefore sure... And you had tomorrow at 5:00. >> Don levers: 5:00 and straight to paris. >> Kevin: who's going with you? >> Don levers: I'm going with the group from the royal winnipeg negotiation and this time I'm taking my granddaughter and landing on those beaches and to visit some of those places. >> Lisa: and keeping. >> Kevin: that history alive because year after year it's getting further and further way and people to tell those stories are fewer and further between. >> Kevin: in my. >> Don levers: book I use the letter journal sent telegrams of these members and their family history books to tell their story and we are losing them and escorts tank he said to me in an interview... He says ge . >> Kevin: and if people find those and income out. ... I understand your dads uniform has been found. What's the story behind all the? >> Lisa: from writing the book, I met and talked to people in north america and in europe and I got a facebook post two years ago from a chat and said is this my dads uniform and there were no identifying uniforms and name but there was a cigarette case and there that had gw l july 30th 1938 and the date meant nothing. I looked up the records and found their worse only 3w owls and so, and then I won a little further to find out about the cigarettes case and a front of mine from the winnipeg library that went to france with me in 2019 found in the archives a newspaper article that said my dad was a groomsmen at a wedding on july the 30th of 1938 and it something I would've given you back in the day as a gift for being my groomsmen cigarette case and that was in the uniform and that verified it was my dads. >> Kevin: what was thought like to find that out? >> Don levers: it's hard to explain and there is a recording of him arriving back in england after he was wounded and then finding this and being contacted by the museum in one of the collectors that's donating it and so we will go there to present it to the aero mansion museum and the d-day museum on june 7th. >> Kevin: emotionally, what's that like? >> Lisa: I had some difficult times talk about it and it becomes emotional and we were never an emotional family but you know talk about it this much and this much longer and later, it's difficult sometimes. >> Kevin: thank you for putting the stories down in the book and thank you for following with us and I think it so important in this next generation calming us behind lisa and people younger than us gets harder and harder to tell the stories and you are making it easier. >> Don levers: I'm trying and you know, it's been a pleasure to do it and I feel like I'd gone to know the men as I've told their story. >> Kevin: and getting us to go with them to... Work and we get the book? >> Don levers: the bookstores have been in edmonton and the chapters and indigo on the bookstore in prong has been very supportive as well as audrey's book right here in edmonton and they've all been very supportive of the project and I really appreciate the help they've given me. >> Kevin: I recommend everyone go pick up a copy and I will be pleased to read it as we get through the rest of this week. Thanks for all you've done. Have a great trip and good luck with everything. >> Don levers: we will see when I get back. >> Kevin: youth that.
