Opioid-related deaths keep mounting in our province. A recent report showing a crisis in first nations communties. New owners of edmonton's the marc put me to the test in the kitchen. >> Announcer: you're watching global edmonton, this is global news morning. >> Lisa: I sometimes joke when we get these challenges that I'm always wondering the very difficult ones. And I'd say this was the hardest one. Anything that involves puree. >> Kevin: well that's why it's called the chefs challenge. >> Lisa: don't even. >> Kevin: I don't remember what the last when I did was. Doesn't matter we will see in either way it super fun and a great recipe and it will be fun to make and that will be in about 15 or 20 minutes or so but how is it faring outside. >> Kevin: were pretty much all over the city with showers in 19 degrees for the expected high in the afternoon we will see the cloud cover, and going a few sunny breaks here and there this afternoon but not many and I look forward to a chance of showers all day long and chance of showers in the middle of the afternoon. Headed into tomorrow what a change in details coming up. >> Lisa: the edmonton oilers were really looking to keep momemtum going in dallas last night to take a two nothing lead in their western conference series against the stars but it proved to be a tougher battle in texas. It's game two didn't get off to the best* start for the oilers. Jamie benn gets the puck past stuart skinner to open up the scoring on the stars first shot on net. But under a minute later... Oiler connor brown responds - tying the game at one. And the game remained tied until mason marchment tips it in giving the stars the 2-1 lead. Two minutes left in this one âc“ the oilers pull skinner..some might say a tad early....and dallas capitalizes....scoring an empty netter to add a cushion and seal a 3-1 win....as the oilers drop game two and dallas ties the series 1-1. >>you never like to... Didn't capitalize. >>it's nice to contibute....fun to score. >>if you would've....taken that. >>lisa: the series now shifts to rogers place for game three tomorrow. Puck drop is shortly after 6:30 and you can catch all the action live on 630 ched. We'll also have full team coverage on global news at 5...6 and 11 monday. No matter where you look in edmonton - it's hard *not* to find some orange and blue. The city is fully invested in this year's stanley cup playoff run. So invested - that some we would've taken that. >>lisa: the series now shifts to rogers place for game three tomorrow. So invested - that some businesses are seeing a *drop* in customers anytime the oilers hit the ice. Jasmine king has the story. >> Reporter: when the oilers aren't inaction, tarred to find somewhere downtown that isn't packed full of fans. The fan parking ice district plaza sees thousands of people each game and while one arena is full, another sitting empty. The silent eye centre is exactly that during oilers games-- silent, when typically it's quite the opposite. >> Nonstop noise, kids on the ice, kids off the ice, parents everywhere and right now we could throw a bowling ball through your not hit anyone because everyone's focus. >> Reporter: on the oilers the facilities hosting a determinant this weekend but it's nice to book time around game too. Any other night-- all the action would be in their own ranks. >> Games wall-to-wall, to games on the video wall and patch karina crespo will be busy as well. >> Reporter: for anyone looking to the traffic, there's plenty of room after the puck drop by

and there's also a lot of spaces like businesses that activate who usually have people lined up to go inside. >> It's been slower-- it's not dead but it's definitely a decline for sure. >> Reporter: activate is a physical and mental gaming facility for challenges of people of all ages. Although they are not seeing a rush during oilers game-- they are still getting in the spirit. >> They love to have fun with the people who are or their fans get them about the game and get them excited about our games because they're excited about the games. So it generates a very positive environment. >> Reporter: of positivity that could hopefully translate to game three victory. Jasmine king, global news. >> Announcer: you're watching global news morning. >>lisa: police on scene last night at an apartment complex on 47-th avenue and 108-a street near southgate mall. Witnesses telling global news they heard gunshots shortly before police arrived. E-p-s has not released any details on the incident. Edmonton police is asking for the public's help to find a missing 15-year-old boy. Ludwin bautista was last seen in the area of 142-nd avenue and 72-nd street just before 4 a-m on friday. He was wearing a white shirt, black pants and shoes. He is described as average height with a fuller build and short dark brown hair. Police say he is known to frequent the clareview rec centre... Londonderry and west edmonton malls. The message behind a province-wide protest saturday - "enough is enough!" groups across alberta have been rallying against the provincial government's policies... Calling for more transparency and accountability... >>our rocky mountains...not for sale...our democracy...not for sale! >>lisa: this was the protest here in edmonton...as *hundreds* of demonstrators gathered outside the alberta legislature. Speakers discussed the alberta pension plan...legislation around municipal parties...and overhauls to the province's healthcare system. The common theme... Is those protesting do not feel heard. >>the only way to change the behaviour of a sitting government that has a majority is heat. And heat can come in many different forms, but a big, vocal demonstration like this is a good one. >>reporter: we reached out to the u-c-p government on this...and it says they support* albertans' right to protest...adding that anyone with concerns can reach out to their m-l-as. The province goes on to say that recent polling suggests albertans *largely support* the government on the economy, affordability and the health care system. 8:07 A.M. and have you done your daily walk outside? >> Kevin: no I haven't! I'm assuming it's raining outside here but I heard... >> Lisa: we heard the west has rain. >> Kevin: downtown is certainly having it and beaumont has it because shane was going through beaumont so I'm assuming that it's raining here in the south side. >> Lisa: it's coming... >> Kevin: if not it certainly surrounding us but I will check when I have a little more time to walk back there. It takes time to walk there and back. >> Lisa: for sure, I get it. There's no windows down here. >> Kevin: know there isn't we are not concrete basement basically. Beth...bujt that being said yesterday was such a nice day. And today, not so nice and a little gentle and easy rain this afternoon and that's from the eighth and the time lapse video and you could see things clouding over and then here we will get into now and there's cloud cover that we are seeing downtown and 11 degrees at nait and 74 percent humidity in downtown edmonton, it is 11 degrees with cloudy skies and showers in the area northwest when he sat 8 km/hour-- and not quite the scene we saw yesterday when we saw all that nice and bright green outside the city and it's fairly overcast and showers around the area. That certainly backed up by satellite and radar imagery. Those showers right along and as it pops up into frame, there it is but then it will move off and we will see a bit of a break in the and then we will see it redevelopment a break and not but-- lots of instability and we will see some thundershowers probably developed later on this afternoon as well. More movement as far as precipitation goes in moving through the lethbridge and medicine hat region unjust to the east of red deer with west of red deer sorry, a little bit southeasterly in a couple of storms and there will keep our eye and not yellow and there could be a little noisy moving through the calgary region. And looking at futurecast, there is edmonton a chance of showers all day today a chance of a thunderstorm moving through in the middle of the afternoon and this is taking us to about 6:30 p.m.. Bit of a clearing as we had through the overnight a couple of showers want to pass through there until the wee hours of the morning. And by the time we get past that, this is noon on monday. Lots of clear skies there and mostly we think we are looking at is moving to the north and a bit of high level cloud moving through and much more of a southwesterly influence or southerly influence that will bring in that warm air and certainly warm a temperature
