If you look closely, really closely, you can see the oilers flag flapping outside city hall. >> Erin: mayors of the two cities made the bet as their teams squared off in the second round of the stanley cup playoffs. You may notice, however, the oilers flag is noticeably smaller than the bc flag next to it. >> Narrator: you are watching global news morning. The ucp government has tabled amendments to a controversial

bill that would give the province but can instead order a public sweeping powers over municipalities. Under the one amendment cabinet can no longer oust municipal councillors. But can instead order a public vote to decide if a councillor should be removed. This would only happen in cases where the councillor is deemed unwilling or unable to do their job or if there is illegal or the second amendment addresses unethical behaviour. The second amendment addresses bill 20's proposal to give cabinet the power to repeal or change civic bylaws. There are now a series of requirements before cabinet can intervene, like if cabinet believes the bylaw is contrary to provincial policy. >> Ric mciver: we want municipalities to focus on doing the job that they are meant to do. When it comes to these two parts of the legislation, I am pleased that we can provide more clarity in the legislation as the municipalities, some of them at least, have asked for. >> Erin: alberta municipalities, a group representing almost 270 communities, says the proposed amendments don't go far enough. President tyler gandam says the changes fail to address key concerns about having political parties at the municipal level. Fire officials say conditions are favourable now. But it's important that we all continue to practice fire safety. 77 percent of fires this season have been caused by people. >> Todd loewen: despite our the effort to remind albertans with any action could cause a wildfire over at the may long weekend, 25 abandoned campfires were detected and the calgary forest area. These were quickly extinguished but if wildfire danger >> Erin: by this time last year had been higher at could have led to catastrophic wildfire starts over the long weekend. >> Erin: by this time last year 520,000 hectares had burned in our province. Compared to the 29,000 hectares this year. That is definitely good news. But definitely something to keep considering especially if you are out and on the highways. Don't throw cigarette butts out. >> Tracie: don't throw any butts outside. That's our public service announcement for this morning. That is great to know on so many levels because so many fires are started that way. So please be careful. Also be careful of your driving on 124 street and 107 avenue. We have a three vehicle collision there. There are possible injuries and quite a bit of damage to the vehicle so there are some emergency crews on the scene but there will be more arriving. Try to avoid that area is at all possible and that is going to be their potentially for a while. Taking a look at traffic cameras we are seeing traffic volume picking up now. We are getting all of the sleepy oiler fans up and out of bed and back onto the street. Quite busy through this intersection here but no major delays through here. Traffic is getting through nicely. The morning flights we do have quite a few delays and a couple cancellations. 929 westjet from halifax's delay. 949 westjet from st. John's, the 8:00 a.m., that is let's see what does that stand for I will think of that one. Porter to montreal at 850 has been completely cancelled. And canada north that is what this cn is. We are morning flights at the international better cancelled cancelled at 930. Canadian north to ottawa and the 1020 westjet to winnipeg has been delayed. So if you do have a flight that you are picking someone up or you heading out make sure you double check that flight status before you go. And an important announcement note butts out your window. That's a look at your traffic report enter ok tire traffic. Now it's it over to sky traffic weather and see ciara. And who is this? >> Ciara: this is sienna. These playoffs.
