Citrus Bowl updates in Orlando: South Carolina falls to Illinois
It’s gameday in the Sunshine State, and there’s a lot on the line for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
South Carolina (9-3) is trying to win its 10th football game in a season for the fifth time ever.
The Gamecocks are going for their seventh-straight win to close out the year.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers will try to put an exclamation point on his stellar season — and do so with Mike Shula calling plays in his first game as offensive coordinator.
The bowl game against Illinois (9-3) begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Camping World Stadium. ABC has the broadcast.

Halftime notes
The Gamecocks have missed out on two scoring chances as they trail Illinois 7-3 at the half.
South Carolina kicker Alex Herrera had a 41-yard field goal try as time expired in the half, but the ball hit the right upright and the kick was no good.
Earlier in the second quarter, facing 4th and 7 from the Illinois 13-yard line, Gamecocks punter Kai Kroeger attempted a touchdown pass to defensive tackle Alex Huntley that fell incomplete.
Starting lineup
Gamecock starters on offense include RB Oscar Adaway, WRs Dalevon Campbell and Nyck Harbor, and TEs Joshua Simon and Michael Smith.
With no Kyle Kennard today, the starters on the edge are Dylan Stewart and Bryan Thomas Jr.

The Gamecocks will wear white helmets, white jerseys and white pants in the bowl game. The Fighting Illini players are wearing orange helmets, blue tops and orange pants.

The Gamecocks are a 9-point favorite against the Fighting Illini, according to VegasInsider’s consensus line that factors in multiple sportsbooks. The over/under for points scored is 50.
ORLANDO WEATHER UPDATE
The forecast high is 78 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, with at least partly cloudy skies. Rain moved through the area just as the Gamecocks arrived at Camping World Stadium.
