Cioffi flies out for Al-Ahli awaiting Allegri in future
Former Udinese coach Gabriele Cioffi is flying out to sign on as the new coach of Al-Ahli, but it’s reported he’s just a placeholder for Max Allegri.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the video this evening shows Cioffi getting ready to make the journey to Jeddah so that he can put pen to paper on a short-term contract.
However, the same source also warns that the real ambition for the Saudi Pro League side is Allegri, who is planning to wait until June before deciding whether or not to accept their proposal.

In the meantime, Cioffi can begin to lay down a certain Italian tactical discipline to the squad, which was booed off the pitch after the 1-0 defeat to Al-Khalood, probably the final straw for current coach Matthias Jaissle.
The group includes former Serie A players like Merih Demiral, Roger Ibanez and Franck Kessie, plus stars Riyad Mahrez, Ivan Toney and Roberto Firmino.
Cioffi has a very long career mainly as an assistant manager all over the world, including Al-Jazira, Birmingham City and Al-Dhafra.
His senior coaching roles were at Crawley Town, Udinese and Verona.
