[ Singing ] >> Jeff: we certainly are sitting on top of the world with another visit from amanda marshall ahead on this monday. Going to talk to amanda about had youener few as we sood morning on this monday, it is may the 27th and welcome, everybody, to canada's morning show. We've got in the house this morning some serious, I mean serious music talent, not only amanda marshall but of course jully black here with another edition of monday motivation. >> Carolyn: should we have a sing-off? >> Jeff: I think we should. You and I guess amanda and jully? >> Carolyn: I wonder who will win that one. >> Jeff: I know who my money on. >> Carolyn: great show coming up. Also great night in edmonton tonight, the series, the western conference final, comes to edmonton tonight and it comes with the series tied. >> Jeff: yes, game apiece. Here we go, int game three. I know the ice district is going to be pactonight. And rocking. So will the arena itself. Wondering's going to show up at the game, good friend of "the morning show," brett kl, is he on deck to do the american anthem tonight >> Carolyn: I hope so. Who do -- we travis k at the game on the weekend in dallas >> Jeff: big star power there, yes, travis kelce and a bit of a nod to his girlfriend taylor swift because when they showed him on the jumbotron, travis, we've got a blank space on the back of this jersey, we'lluite your name there. >> Carolyn: kind of fun. >> J so looking forward to tonight's game three h in canada in edmonton. >> Carolyn: let's go, oilers. Okay, moving over to vancouver and we're now going to go from hockey to soccer, lots of disappointment at B.C. place over the weekend because messi was a no-show. Yep, superstar socceryer lionel eessi did not appear at the match between the hometown whitecaps and inter miami and there was disappointment everywhere. Have a listen. >> (Together): messi, messi! Messi, messi! >> Carolyn: they're saying where is m. >> Jeff: this wasn't a surprise by the wthey did announce ahead of the match that messi was not going t be there. And they red discounted tickets and food prices because messi was no-show? >> Carolyn: what are you going to do when you already have your ticket? They're now offering free games in theure but you went there knowing, thinking and they only found out ink a couple days beforehand he wasn't going to appear. >> Jeff: I don't blame fans for being upset. Carolyn: sure. >> Jeff: you pay a premium ice, it's so-called dynamic pric we've seen it before with sports teams, likr example, if edmonton comes to toronto, you'reoing to pay more for that ticket bee McDAVID'S in the line-up but what happens if McDAVID doesn't play? Should you getome of that money back then? Dynamic pricing needs to work two ways, both ways. >> Carolyn: for sure, for sure. Gotta talk about this, this happened over the weekend, another incident of severe turbulence. Time it was qatar airways flight that was over türkiye when the severe turbulence occurred resulting in about dozen people being injured. They were seen -- they did land in dublin, that was the correct?

>> Jeff: yes. >> Carolyn: and emergency crews met thelane there. And as I said, dozen people were injured, not majorly, but still quite a concern. >> Jeff: eight taken to hospital and of courses incident follows a similar severe turbue incident we saw on a singapore airs flight just last week where adozen passengers once again were injured and unfortunately o man died of a suspected heartattack. So here we have the second incident in as many weeks with severe turbule >> Carolyn: for sure. >> Jeff: all right. Health warning to pass your w this morning. Mbler given away as promotional gift has been recalled right across canada after variousorts of people getting sick. Here's a look at the tumbler here, 30-ounce stainless steel tumbler that feature the neutral logo given away to consumers who bought a case of 12 or 15 of the settlerst licenced retailers. Health canada says there's a chemical solution trapped between the inner walls here that contain both sulphuric and phosphoric acids and it's reed once you put liquid into that tumbler. >> Carolyn: okay. That's your gift with purchase.43 reports from consumers who reported falling ill. If you've been given one of those with your purchase, makesure you send it back. >> Jeff: people are reporting that burning of theirs, tongue, throat and stomach and in some cases even tissue damage as well. So really serious here and if you'veot one of those tumblers, take note. >> Carolyn: for sure. All right. This was breaking this morning, the university of toronto says the pro-palestinian demonstratorsped there for s now are, as of this moment, in violation of a trespass notice whicas issued friday but then with the deadline that they had to bt of there by 8 A.M. this morning. Which they have not done so now the university is going to court to try and get an injunction but at this point now, because it's past the 8 a.m.dline, they are now in violation of the trespass notice. >> Jeff: demonstrators by the way have been asking part of their demands is for the ersity to disclose and divest from israeli companies and institutions. They have been I guess bargaining if you will back and forth but we'll southeastern keep our eye on this developing story. Meantime, according to a new report, the princess of wales does not hav any plans whatsoever to make any pc appearances for the rest of the year as she continues to battle cancer. Lots of people involved as you might suspect in planning, they need to know in advance whether or not the princess of wales is going to be at an event way in advance and this according to a royal source talki to the daily beast, the sourceent on to say that they're told that kate's diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned and that she may not appear in public for the rest of the year. >> Carolyn: yep, yep. We'r going to talk more about this with our royal expert patricia treble who will join us on the show for her royal roup in just a bit.

>>> We all know thispat sajak's final season of "wheel of fortune" but now we tell you when his final episodel air. And it is june 7th, which is next week. >> Jeff: it's ng up quick, yeah, believe it or not, here we are, almost in june, so we're about a week, week-and-a-half out but sajak's reps confirming this news and his departure of course marks the end of an era r "wheel of fortune." made his debut onwheel" in december of '81 whe the original host left the show. He's been spinning that wheel for a few years. >> Carolyn: is it chuck that did the dating game? >> Jeff: "love connection.">> Carolyn: did he move on to that one? >> Jeff: he did later on, absolutely, yes. But pat sajak, what a run. As we know, vanna white, she signed on to continue on "wheel of fortune." >> Carolyn: with ryan rest. >> Jeff: no surprise, ryan rest takes pat sajak's job. He kind of takesrybody's job, yes, ryan. >> Carolyn: he does. >> Jeff: lookorward to that coming up I think in the fall. >> Carolyn: all right. Joining us now is global entertainment mo hoffman first in the morning with entertainment. Hey, morgan, how you doing? >> I'm doing great, how are you? >> Carolyn: not bad, not bad. We g wrap up cannes because it came to a wrap-up this weaned. >> We've been talking about cannes the past week or two so this is excit the big palme d'or,s went to "anora" by an american director called sean baker and this is kind of exciting because the first time an american director won since 2011 at the cannesfilm festival. Back then, it was terrence m who won for "the tree of life" so it's exciting for him to w he dedicated this award to allsex workers past, present and future as this is what the film is all about. So that was really exciting. I always get excited who wins best actor and best actress. I love jesse plemons. He won that, ande directed "poor things" with emma stone and emma stone won best actress at the oscars last night year so I'll be interested to see how far it goes. And best actress, everyons talking about this, three people shared this award, all from the same cast, zoe saldana, which isso exciting, first trans actress hack carla sophia gascon, and they're all sharing this moment, this best actre award. This is exciting, too, the first me a trans actress lass won has won that award at cannes. And we've seen it before where people share the award but it's nice they got thensemble award. >> Jeff: congratulations to all the winners and big weekend not only in cannes but also big weekend for millobby brown, congratulations, "stra things" star got married over the weekend. >> Young lo I'm here for it. I want this to work so badly. Millie bobby brown just married jake bon jovi, yes, jon bon jovi's kid. They have been together several years. They're so adorable. I just interviewed millie bobby brown for her netflix movie, they're on red carpets to say, say the sweetest things about each other, they're not over the top but you can just ll they're so in love. This is a very, very low-key, intimate ceremony. That's why you're not seeing pictures everywhere, just the parents were involved. Later in the year, you'll see a much bigger wedding ceremony is what's in the works but I think that's so lovely, seeing them in a very intimate ceremony just between them. I'm sure they're going to have a big wedding with a lot of famous people. >> Carolyn: when you interviewed her, you asked her about her engagement and her losing her ring. >> That's what went viral, she talk about that on late-night television. I asked her about her dog because s obsessed with her dog, she has numerous dogs but she's coy about her relationship and in the last six months, she started opening up a lot more about the relationship yeah, apparently when he proposed, it was underwater and en he dropped the ring. >> Carolyn: right, right. >> They had to go find it. >> Jeff: I wasoing to ask I think the question a lot of people are askin did john perform at the wedding? >> I know he wasi know he was there, but let me tell you, moneys on, if he was there, I don't know if we'llknow, but money is on him performing at the bigger ceremony.>> Jeff: speaking of performances, pearl jam joined on stage by a very special gue this weekend at the bottle rocks
