The province was given an f for both of its legislative process and are for the nearly 3 in 10 albertans struggling with food insecurity. >> Food insecurity ranges in severity everything from worried about not having enough food and cutting down and the quality and the quantity of food due to lack of money, and in some severe cases skipping food for an entire day due to lack of money and this has profound effects across board on one's physical and mental health. >> And living in households with food insecurity is growing. Well, we are just days away from canada's longest running marathon. It's a big year for the calgary marathon as we mark 60 years running. And joining us to talk about it is calgary marathon's kristen flemming. Good morning to you. >> Good morning. >> Blake: this is really exciting. First off, a sellout. That is huge. >> It's the first sellout in a decade. We're thrilled. Everyone except for maureen who answers the phone and she says I'm crushing dreams with every call coming through and saying is there one more spot. >> Blake: there are more people trying to participate. >> We are inviting people to come out on the course and this is calgary's event. This is a lot of bad news in the world. This is the time to put the phone down, and interface with your community and come out and witness the power of the marathon on sunday. >> When we say it's a sellout, how many runners are participating? >> 13,600. Our youngest is 11 months old in the diaper dash. Barely crawling, as I understand it, and our oldest is jerry miller at 88. From 11 months to 88. That's inspiring. >> Blake: that is phenomenal. What do you attribute that to? How many people want to get involved? >> Running is exploding globally right now, and we are so excited as a community, we love sharing our sport, and welcoming young people into the journey of health and fitness, and I think here in calgary, there are a few things, and tons of corporate teams, and 47 teams in the corporate challenge, and phenomenal job making it accessible, and removing the barriers for anyone participating, 18 and younger, and 20 bucks, that's all it costs. And we are seeing a big influx of newcomers coming to canada driving the run club culture and the run through culture, and the statistics and data are staggering. Pulling yesterday the mobility device least, there are 47 athletes registered saying they are using an adaptive device, and movement for everyone, and we're excited to see who comes out on sunday. >> That is fantastic. More than just running -- there's a lot of new things happening on sunday. Can you walk us through the new features. >> We like to keep people on their toes. It's a festival and a party at the finish line, and that's why it's so fun to come out and experience, and beer garden, and kid zone, and on course, I think it's 27 cheer stations and entertainment. I don't think it's been done before, and non-alcoholic beer partner, one for the brewing, and hydration, and kilometre 6 in the marathon or 18 in the half, and you can have a thimble of non-alcoholic beer before you hit the finish line and a few surprises at max park I don't want to give away. >> Blake: I love it. >> Excited about it.
