Good morning to you. We are learning or will learn this morning what is next for a community pool in inglewood. >> Dallas: we don't know exactly what the city is announcing, we can tell you it has to do with the permanent closure of the aquatic centre, and meghan cobb joins us now. We know it's not 9 first the first time we heard of the the facility shutting down. >> Reporter: five years ago, and the city wanted to close it and the beltline aquatic centre as part of the budget cuts. There was a save the pool campaign, and in the end, the beltline pool closed and the inglewood pool stayed opened, and the city announced new anents, and opportunities for downtown communities, and including a bicycle pump track in inglewood, and the bend in the bow project, and refocusing the beltline facility on community programming. For calgarians looking to jump in and cool down this summer, there are fewer city options. The canyon meadows in the southwest, and the sir winston churchill pool in the northwest are closing july 1st for a few months to undergo electrical repairs, and the bob band pool is closed until the fall for its own repairs. The loss of this pool would be one more to that list. At 9:30, we will find out exactly what the city is going to announce concerning the future of the pool. Blake, dallas. >> Dallas: thanks, meghan. In other news this morning, police say tips are coming in about a suspected serial killer with ties to alberta who may have victims in B.C. >> Blake: police seuss used evidence to tie gary allen srery to crimes in the 1970's, and he was wanted in the U.S. for crimes but fled to canada and he spent a considerable amount of time living on b.c.'s sunshine coast and the fraser valley. In 1998, he was convicted of a sexual assault in new westminster and sentenced to five years. Alberta rcmp are convinced he

committed other crimes in british columbia and they want to hear from potential victims. >> And we realized people wanted to go back in their minds to the mid-70's, whether it be in calgary or whether it be the 1980's in davis bay, halfmoon bay, gibsons. He moves into abbotsford, cultus lake, chilliwack. We're asking people to take themselves back there. >> Blake: seven new tips on srery were reported to rcmp just over the weekend, after serving time in a B.C. prison, he was deported to the U.S. where he died in custody in 2011. >>> And a calgary mother is in a custody battle for child services after fighting for continued care for her son who has a disability. >> Dallas: we have masked her identity for the privacy of her 11-year-old child who is part of a support service offered by hull services. The treatment program is only accessible by referral through social worker with alberta child and family services. Usually the program lasts 18 months, and she says her son has been in it for 2 years, and she says it she was served with a court order for permanent guardianship after she refused to remove him from the program. >> I can't bring him home how things are, and can't bring him home to do the exact same things over and over and over and we have a program that is supportive, beneficial for him, and seeing progress and he needs more time with and now I'm at risk of losing him because he needs more time. >> Dallas: the ministry of children and family services says it can't comment on the case for privacy reasons but in a statement says a child is... [ ] >> Tiffany: all right, here's a look outside, quite a bit of cloud cover over calgary. Getting a break from the rain right now, but more rain is on the way. 6° is what we are currently sitting at with a light northwesterly breeze. Temperatures right now, 6° in edmonton. Red deer. Calgary. 1° in lethbridge and medicine hat. 1°, as well, up in high level. It's good that up north they've had a little bit of moisture but they've had these colder temperatures. Cooler temperatures overnight. So that has helped with the fire situation. But in the afternoons, they've been getting quite warm. So the fire risk is still quite high. Up in northern alberta. Sunshine and 20°. That is going to dry up the soil moisture throughout the day today, and 11°, and some rain in edmonton, as well as red deer. 13 in lethbridge and medicine hat today with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. You can see where that rain is right now in central alberta. Higher elevations to the west of us. Seeing it as snowfall. That is going to be the theme throughout the day today, that instability continues. For alberta, and 12°, and cloudy tomorrow in banff. 15 and partly cloudy in red deer, and 16 and cloudy in medicine hat and here in lethbridge, 15°, and 40% chance of thunderstorms. Saturday, 16° and 40 first chance of thunderstorms and 18 and partly cloudy on sunday and had thisinto the 20's the start of next week, and les, there is the risk of fog overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning, and that is something that we will track for the morning commute tomorrow. >> Leslie: I'm sorry, what? >> Tiffany: tracking fog possible tonight into tomorrow morning for the morning commute tomorrow. >> Leslie: I'm sorry, I'm not interested in that. So... Take your little fog and you can shew, shew, shew. And building volume, and deerfoot and northeast part of the city and approaching 64th avenue, and it has been sparse and light, and barlow, and the southeast part of the city, and douglasdale, and continuing to the ivor strong realignment for the bridge. There are issues going on here on -- my left eye is multitasking with the helicopter and I'm going to skip her and she can get her issues sorted and brandi up in the helicopter, and come back to her in 10 minutes' time, and no delays, and keep you posted next time around. >> Blake: thank you, leslie. You may have noticed as you drive around the city that gas prices vary. In some cases, we're see a 20-cent difference.

>> The gas in calgary is as high as $1.62, and as low as $1.42 depending where you fill up. Energy and gas expert dan McTEAGUE says there's no clear reason for the range in prices. He says the gas stations replacing the cost of the, the prices should be $1.44 a litre, >> Unless you have some kind of model that allows you to push greater volumes to get down to 1.32 or 1.34 requires, perhaps, the sale of a lot of other products in your store. A lot of beef jerky. I don't know what the margins are, you better have a lot of people coming as a grocery store rather than a gas outlet because you're not making a lot of money. >> Dallas: stores are selling as low as 1.34 a litre and people are lining up to get it. >> Blake: time now for money matters. Joining us from the baun and pate investment group is paul duff. Good morning. >> Good morning. >> How are the futures? >> The s and p up 31, and nasdaq the big winner here, and oil is higher 67 cents to 78.23 and natural gas is up a penny and. >> The canadian dollar is up 14 basis points to 73.16 U.S. >> Dallas: >> Blake: and td. >> And the bank earnings season, and td bank reported this morning, and it was a beat. And analysts were looking for 2.85. It was a busy day for td. They made headlines when they failed to disclose suspicious transactions to regulators, skirting anti-launch laws and that resulted in approximately $10 million fine and that investigation is going to continue into the current quarter, and td saw net income from capital markets double and higher loan loss, and trading revenues, as well as provisions for loan loss edged higher to $1.07 billion, and canadians are struggleing to meet their debt obligations under the high interest rates. We have td stock trading higher in the premarket today, blake. >> Blake: all right, keep our eye out for other canadian bank earnings. A lot of people watching for this, nvidia reporting the q-1 earnings. >> This is the big story moving markets, blake, and this comes after we heard from companies like microsoft, amazon, google and meta, they all plan to spend more on artificial intelligence. A boom for nvidia. They reported billions of dollars beating analysts expectations, and saw the sales rise 262% in the quarter and on the boom they see in artificial intelligence demand. Nvidia announced a bump to their cash dividend and 10 for 1 stock split that will take place next month. Nvidia stock is trading up in the premarket over a thousand dollars a share in the premarket. >> That's incredible. And we'll check in with when the markets open up. >> See you soon. >> Paul duff with the baun and pate investment group. A number of recent incidents in the sky are causing concern around turbulence.
