Meghan cobb is in the community ahead of the 9:30 announce: good morning. >> Reporter: good morning, blake. In a couple of hours, we'll find out what the plans are. This pool along 17th avenue south east has quite the history. As you mentioned, the city tried to close it a couple of years ago and the community fought back and given a 2-year reprieve while the city looked at options. That was in 2019, and the pool is still open. According to the website, the facility offers swimming lessons, drop-in swim times, and can be booked out for birthday parties and private swim parties. There have been many concerns about the lack of aquatic facilities in the downtown. In 2021, the eau claire ymca closed due to falling membership numbers, and the city closed the beltline pool back around the same time. Now the mmp community and sports centre along macleod trail is involved in a massive expansion of its facilities. Now at 9:30, we will find out what the city's plans are. If the pool will be closing if there is something in the works to relocate the facility to a different location. Obviously there are many things to do in the community. But a swimming pool would surely be missed. Blake, dallas. >> Blake: thanks, meghan. Energy and gas expert dan McTEAGUE says there's no clear reason for the range in prices. >> Dallas: he says the gas stations replacing the cost of the, the prices should be $1.44 a litre, and he says that the prices right now are on par with other communities across the U.S. midwest and western canada. >> 1.42, you're doing well. If you're in edmonton, buying $1.50, you're in the lead, not the gas station. Take advantage of things when you can, and things like this don't always happen. >> Blake: gas prices are 2 to 3 cents a litre back in edmonton. >> Well, back back in my day, you could give the gas attendance 5 bucks, and that would give you a couple days' worth of gas. >> Leslie: absolutely. How did we get here from 1.50 to 1.60. If the experts are I don't know, how are we supposed to know. Did oil go up $700 a barrel. >> I don't know. Just don't look. >> Leslie: just don't look. He already had a relationship with the landlord, it was never posted online. I got in because I was lucky. You shouldn't have to rely on luck to get a roof over your head. >> Reporter: the city approved its housing strategy in september. And since then, the price of a home reached double digit increases. >> What we knew in september, november, it's going to get worse until we complete and push some of the actions forward. >> Reporter: in a new update, officials say they completed 5 of the 98 recommendations in the housing strategy including rezoning and making several parcels of city owned land available. >> And realistically, we have to be self-aware of the time it takes to create the problem is equivalent the time to solve it. >> Reporter: speed is important for providers, too.
