It's good news for the economy, but with it comes challenges in accommodating the needs that come with the massive production. >> Reporter: the yyc amazon fulfilment centre is an ai robotic marble. All 2.8 million square feet. It comes with 1500 new jobs. >> It's here we have the assistants of robots working alongside our associates making their jobs safer and more inclusive, allowing them to... >> Reporter: premier danielle smith says amazon has growing relationship with alberta. It's their 11th operating sight in the province and after this opening, the company says it will eventually employ 7500 albertans. >> How companies can more efficiently serve their customers by investing in state-of-the-art technology as well as their workers, it also affirms the confidence that companies have here in alberta. A hub of innovation and I place where businesses can grow and thrive. >> Reporter: despite the new jobs, unemployment is still above 7 percent in calgary. Experts say that number is misleading. >> One reason is most new people

are entering the labour force in looking for work. These kinds of jobs, adding 1500 jobs itself won't move the needle for the whole province, but it will mean there's a lot of new alberta families who can find work. >> Reporter: the mayor was on hand for the ribbon-cutting. She says it's terrific were adding jobs and are now the fastest growing economy in canada, but there is tension with finding a safe home for everyone is flocking to calgary to find a better life. >> There's about 260 moving here h. The company says it's in talks with calgary transit on increasing service for its employees. >> Tracy: if your summer plans include visiting the lake louise area, expect delays. Construction work is underway to improve the main road into the popular destination. Work started this week and will last throughout the summer. The busiest time of the air. Officials say over 1 million vehicles travel the main road each year. Parks canada says shuttles and public transit are the best option to visit the area. Downtown 11 degrees, west district ten, deerfoot city ten and spruce meadows 10 degrees as well. We do have a warm up underway, we'll be warmer than we were yesterday. This is how the day will break down if you're planning to get out for a bike ride or dog walk, take the kids out to burn off some steam this morning. The better bet over the noon hour will be 15 degrees, mostly cloudy through the afternoon and into the afternoon is when the rain will start as well as stronger wind. Out of the southwest at 20 kilometres per hour, about 16 degrees our high today with rain continuing into the evening hours, then clearing overnight which is great news for all 13,000 calgary marathon runners tying up there laces and kicking things off tomorrow morning. Should be clear conditions to begin before rain tomorrow afternoon. When currently common the calgary area, but lethbridge has gusts up to 35 kilometres an hour at this point in time on this saturday morning and sitting at 14 degrees. Medicine hat 12, brooks 13, drumheller 13, and edmonton 10 degrees, warming up to 19 today. Claresholm we'll see 17 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. Red deer some rainy conditions as well, getting up to 17, and edmonton 18. This is the rain rolling at around 2:30 this afternoon, moving toward the calgary area. It will continue into the afternoon and evening hours. Tomorrow afternoon, it will return with this light pattern spreading across the city where we will see a few more millimetres amounting. Nothing too significant. Light rainfall over the next couple days adding to that monthly total just over 50 millimetres already in may. Red deer, medicine hat, lethbridge and banff, current temperatures and conditions over the next three days to round out the weekend and kick off the new week. Monday the day to enjoy for many across the southern part of the province as the sun comes out and thing start to dry up in calgary. Getting up to 20 degrees. Tuesday 22 and cloudy.
