Sitting here at 8 o'clock on may 24th. Topping the news right now, the truck driver who caused the humbolt broncos bus crash six years ago will face a deportation hearing in calgary today. Jaskirat singh sidhu was sentenced to eight years in

prison after pleading guilty to causing the crash in saskatchewan that killed 16 people and injured 13 others. His lawyer, michael green says there's no doubt the deportation order will be granted. But during today's virtual hearing, green says he will ask if sidhu can keep his permanent residency status on humanitarian grounds. >>> Look at the massive building in the southeast part of the city from the global 1 helicopter. That belongs to amazon as it is officially opening its 11th facility in alberta today, and again, located in the southeast part of the city. It's actually the first robotics fulfillment centre in calgary. It uses robots to help pick and pack orders. Meghan cobb got inside the facility for us this morning where amazon says it's going to create over a thousand jobs. Good morning, meghan. >> Reporter: you can tell things have started to get moving here now. You can hear all of the sounds. See some of the things moving behind us. Now items get picked on the third and fourth floor. Second, third, and fourth floors, and put on the conveyer belts that make their way down to here. Once they come down here, there are staff that pick them, and put them in the cub cubbies who send them to the packers to get them ready to be shipped. This warehouse features innovative logistics technology making it calgary's first ever robotics fulfillment centre. It is part of the population boom, and the employment demand is high. Amazon says the new facility will employ more than 1500 people to make sure all of the automated technology continues to run smoothly. The business council of alberta believes the province labor force can absorb all of the new jobs. >> We have some of the nation's largest largest airlines and trucking companies and logistics facilities and world class airports, and some of that is what is contributing to us being -- what is contributing to amazon putting big new attractive facilities and state-of-the-art facilities. >> Crockett says the influx of new people to alberta is good for the economy but challenging for the current housing crisis we are in. Mayor jyoti gondek and the premier and the minister will be here for the opening. >> Thank you for that. London drugs confirmed what was cyber files stolen leaked on the dark web. And the data includes medical and human resources files. London drugs says it's taking all available steps to mitigate any impacts. Including notifying all current employees whose information could be potentially impacted. Cyber security experts all agree there was no easy way out for the company. >> Companies do hold very sensitive information about their employees. In the past, for example, we have seen salary information end up online. The details of disciplinary records. Performance reviews. >> Criminals typically aren't committing a lot of identity fraud with this type of data. There's so much stolen data. Millions and millions of records. Sadly the personal information has very little value. They were just using you as a tool for their extortion. >> Dallas: russian based ransom ware group lockbit claimed responsibility for the attack. Demanded $25 million by yesterday which london drugs refused to pay.
