ANNOUNCER:9-1-1,season finale Thursdayat 8 Eastern on Global. >> Dallas: six different women are being eye heighted at the -- highlighted at the plaza theater this weekend as part of said 2. It's a collection of 18 mini films that amplify each of their unique identities and stories. Joining me is the creators of shades and cofounder of the nonprofit humannology. And one of the cast members of shades 2. Selena, last thursday, there was a red carpet event for this. How did it go? >> Well, I think it went well. I may be biased. I'm one of the organizers, and I feel like the cast -- as part of the cast, how did it go? >> I thought it was pretty amazing. Like I've never done anything, red carpet at all. But... Yeah, it was really cool and -- to see like all of our full films and like to interact with community. It was pretty neat. >> Tomorrow, may 25th is the matinee. 11 A.M. at the plaza theater. What can people expect?

>> We'll be showing all 18 films. Three of the six cast members will be in attendance and a little bit of festivities, and really just an opportunity to hear their stories and meet some of our cast who are part of shades. We highlight emerging creatives, and change makers in calgary. They're all black women of colour including queer and transwomen, and it's just an opportunity to hear about their lived experiences, their unique identities, and celebrate them. >> Dallas: you being a cast member, you're an artist, you're a film maker, a transmodel who is advocate for positive transqueer reputation, and what does that advocacy work mean for you? >> I mean, I really believe that is you're way forward it personalized experiences that somebody may not be connected to or may not be exposed to. And it mean when you're having conversations about laws and governmental policies that don't effect you, they become a personal conversation as opposed to the theoretical type conversation, and it's like you have no skin in the game, it is much, much harder to hate when you feel like you know somebody. >> Dallas: yeah. When you understand, maybe. Where do you think the city, the country is when it comes to issues around diversity and inclusion? We're trying, I think. We've obviously seen a big swing towards less than friendly attitudes towards trans and queer community. But we do have really amazing pockets of people who are working very hard to protect and maintain our rights. Just basic human rights. And. It is challenging because of the things we see in the U.S. and people often think oh, that's just in the U.S. but the reality is that all of the things that are happening in the U.S. are happening here, and maybe slightly behind. But if you see it happening in the u.s., then we have to be on guard for it here. But I am very grateful for the community that we have here. >> Dallas: that's a good silver lining to hear. And this is the second shades projects and shades 2 may be a passion project. >> And we saw a lot of things that opened up for season 2, and it was a platform for storytelling, and now it's for storytelling, support, and community, and bringing the cast together, and bringing them to the shades community, and telling their stories, and offering professional support, as well. And we've just seen such a great response and quite a lot of impact through the project, and you know, like cece was saying, the opportunity for representation that is offered through shades can be really powerful. Not just for the people in it. But also for the people who get to see the films and be part of that that way. So we're excited to continue. We have a shades season 3 coming next fall. And we're already through the casting process for that. So, you know, hopeful that it will just be able to continue. >> Dallas: even more to look forward to. All the best for the matinee tomorrow. >> Thank you. >> Thanks for being here. >> Thanks for having us. >> Dallas: you can get tickets tomorrow, and the matinee at 11 a.m., and get tickets on event bright and the humanology.com for more.
