Christian Eriksen’s agent claims the player is confident he will earn more minutes this season at Old Trafford.

It was reported earlier in the summer that the Red Devils were keen to offload the former Tottenham man.

Clubs such as Ajax and Anderlecht were both frequently linked to a move for Eriksen, but nothing materialised as the window’s deadline came and went.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Dane rejected a last-minute move away from the club on deadline day, as Real Betis showed interest in taking the player on loan.

Eriksen has only played four minutes of action so far this season but with an injury to Mason Mount and a horror show of a performance from Casemiro against Liverpool, he may see his game time increase after the international break.

Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots admitted that there had been contact with several clubs during the transfer window.

“There has already been interest from various sides in Christian, but he will stay at United. There were options in the Arab world, Turkey and MLS, but they were rejected in advance because Chris and his family wanted to stay in Western Europe.”

He admitted that there had been some informal contact with Anderlecht and no talks with Ajax since January and “there was another Dutch club that contacted us, but that was not an option.”

He claimed that we “can end those speculations” about his future until the end of the year as it is difficult for a player used to playing for the top clubs to drop down to lower competitions.

With Scott McTominay sold and new signing Manuel Ugarte needing time to adapt to life in English football, his agent claims Eriksen is sure he will play a bigger role at the club once the international break ends.

United will begin their Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns this month, and Eriksen’s agent stated, “He’s confident that he’ll get enough playing minutes. Manchester United will play every three days in the coming months, so Eriksen will still be important for United.”

With the Red Devils lacking consistent passing options in the centre of the park, there is a chance that the Dane may find a way to force his way back into contention for more regular game time in Erik ten Hag’s first eleven.
