The meeting that recently took place between Chris Smalling and his agent, James Featherstone, may lead to the defender’s departure from Roma.

As revealed yesterday, Featherstone, accompanied by a collaborator, arrived at Roma’s training camp at St. George’s Park and met with his long-time client.

The three of them reportedly met right before the afternoon training session and spoke at length about the player’s future given Smalling’s uncertain position at the capital club.

According to Corriere dello Sport, during the meeting, Smalling opened to the possibility of leaving Roma in the next few weeks.

The player told his agent he would be open to take a pay cut in order to find a new team and a new long-term contract, and will readily evaluate all incoming offers.

Featherstone will now have the difficult task of working on every possible lead, in and around Europe, in order to satisfy his client’s needs.
