Chris Paul got the coolest gift after breaking Jason Kidd's assist record
San Antonio Spurs veteran point guard Chris Paul made history with a pass to Victor Wembanyama on Sunday night.
The 12-time NBA All-Star recorded an assist on the possession and by doing so, he passed Jason Kidd for No. 2 on the all-time NBA assist leaders. With this dime, Paul now trails only John Stockton for the most assists in league history.
Paul has recorded 12,099 assists during his NBA career and is one of just seven players to ever reach the 10,000-assist threshold. The others besides Stockton, Paul, and Kidd include: LeBron James, Steve Nash, Mark Jackson, and Magic Johnson.

For this accomplishment, Paul was gifted a basketball with the name of every player he has ever assisted.
It is a gift perfectly suited for someone like Paul, who has helped elevate the play of his NBA teammates for nearly two decades.
While it is highly unlikely that CP3 can ever pass Stockton as the NBA's all-time leader in assists, this accomplishment is noteworthy as well and he has earned a celebration like the one he has received.
