Chris Drury Meets With Chris Kreider And Jacob Trouba Amid Trade Rumors

There has been progress from New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury to mend the relationship with Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba.

Drury certainly caught his two veteran players off guard when he sent a league wide memo that he is open to trading Kreider and Trouba.

Now it’s on Drury to fix the relationship that he fractured as he’s already taken steps in doing that.

“A Rangers source said Drury did meet with Trouba later in the day Tuesday, as well as Kreider and other veterans, before the team flew to Raleigh,” The Athletic’s Arthur Staple wrote. “The source characterized the meetings as honest, productive conversations.”

If this is all water under the bridge and the Rangers don’t trade Kreider or Trouba, some serious damage control will have to be done on the part of Drury.

Not only did Drury try to shop two impactful players, but he put arguably two of the team’s biggest leaders on the trade block, and that sort of move has consequences on the morale of a locker room.

It’s no question that frustrations are growing inside of the Rangers’ locker room due to their struggles on the ice and constant off-ice distractions.

Drury may have sent a message, but time will tell if it will help or make matters even worse for the Rangers.
