Chobra given run of League of Legends at IEM events, more teams, regions, and matches this season

In an interview with Yahoo Esports earlier this week, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL Michal “Carmac” Blicharz provided new details about League of Legends in the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters circuit.

For starters, there will be significantly more money at stake.

“If we’re looking at the feedback from the previous seasons, from that point of view the season is much, much better,” Blicharz said. “And we’ve also doubled the prize money.”

“It’s going to be larger in terms of the number of teams participating, the number of matches we’re going to produce at those events,” he added. “It’s definitely going to be a more high value product for the League of Legends fans,” he said.

Blicharz also revealed that William “Chobra” Cho will be at the helm, producing League’s presence at IEM events going forward. Cho, who has previous experience hosting the broadcasts, is much more likely to “yelling at his TD in the production room” at this season’s shows.

League of Legends will be prominent at IEM Oakland on November 19 – 20, at IEM Gyeonggi, on December 16th – 18th, and at the annual culmination of the circuit at IEM Katowice next March.
