Chiesa agent discusses Barcelona move as Juventus priority revealed

Fali Ramadani, the agent of Juventus and Italy forward Federico Chiesa, has recently held talks with Barcelona over a possible move this summer, according to reports in both Italy and Spain.

The 26-year-old is not part of Thiago Motta’s first-team plans for the 2024-25 season and was left out of the squad for Monday’s 3-0 thriller against Como in Serie A. He has also not been involved in any of Juve’s recent pre-season friendlies.

Chiesa’s contract in Turin is due to expire at the end of the current season, so Juventus would prefer to sell him now and raise a transfer fee, rather than wait until January, when the player will be free to negotiate with whomever he pleases.

Juventus prefer to sell Chiesa abroad

According to reports from Spanish outlet Sport, confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Chiesa’s agent has been in contact with Barcelona to discuss the possibility of a move to Camp Nou this summer.

The Spanish paper suggests that the former Fiorentina winger could be a viable option for the Catalans after an unsuccessful attempt to sign Spain international Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao earlier this summer.

Tuesday’s reports suggest that Juve’s priority is to sell Chiesa abroad, rather than sending him to another team in Serie A, which might come back to bite them.

Inter have been mentioned as the only viable destination if the player is to stay in Italy, but the Nerazzurri are likely to wait until the very end of the transfer window to make a move.

They could also wait for him to become available as a free agent, which would not be the ideal situation for Juventus.
