Chiefs’ new foods for 2024 season include dish named for Super Bowl-winning play
What does a championship taste like?
In the case of the Chiefs, it’s “a bacon-wrapped brisket dog skewer with sweet and spicy cream cheese then finished with spicy cotton candy.”
That’s the description from the Chiefs on their new “Tom & Jerry Walk off Corndog” that will be on the menu at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium starting with the 2024 season.
The Chiefs unveiled that dish and 15 others at a media event Monday.
You may recall the Chiefs’ “Tom & Jerry” play was a 3-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman in overtime that won Super Bowl LVIII.
“Our food and beverage partners are creative,” Matt Kenny, the Chiefs executive vice president of Arrowhead Operations and Events, said Monday at a media event. “They bring things to the table. Lots of ideas. Some a little more creative than others. Some that actually don’t make the list, but we’re really pleased with what we have this year.”
The “Tom & Jerry” corndog is one the eight offerings available from Aramark in General Concessions. Here is a look at that dish.
Kenny said the Chiefs’ food providers could offer up something during the season based on Mahomes’ viral behind-the-back pass.
“The team again tries to be as current as possible, so some of the ideas, whether they’re viral and go quickly in the moment and they react and bring something new onto the table or they tie something to a player and activity on the field,” Kenny said.
“We’ll see about the behind-the-back pass. I don’t know if somebody has a good idea, but something like that could pop on the menu soon.”
Here are some of the other new food items that will be available to all fans who visit Arrowhead Stadium. The descriptions are from the Chiefs.
The Championship Hand Warmer, a nod to the Chiefs’ wild-card victory over the Miami Dolphins on a Siberian Kansas City night, is also new this year.
It’s a “baked potato served with BBQ pulled pork, fresh jalapenos and coleslaw. Topped with Monterrey jack cheese and green onion.” Here is a look:
The Bavarian Brat is a “grilled brat in a soft pretzel bun, covered in white cheese sauce, topped with beer-braised onions, stone ground mustard and sweet pepper relish.” This is it:
The Pigskin Nachos are made with Tostitos chips and “served with bacon, pepperjack cheese, pickled jalapenos and chicharrónes.”
The KC-Dilla Nachos are made of “fried-chicken quesadillas, served with queso cheese, and topped with pulled pork, corn, black bean salsa, and roasted poblano crema.” This is that dish.
Sack Nation Popcorn has cheesy barbecue seasoning.
Taco Mac & Cheese isn’t your usual macaroni and cheese. This is “seasoned with taco meat, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo and topped with mini red tacos.”
The Playmaker Steak Sandwich is topped with “charred red pepper cream cheese, pickle pepper slaw.”
