Chiefs’ Denver trip is being extended because of winter snowstorm in Kansas City

The Chiefs’ journey to Denver to face the Denver Broncos was delayed by weather. For the same reason, the team’s return will also be delayed.
The Chiefs will remain in Denver on Sunday night and are scheduled to leave for Kansas City on Monday morning.
Normally, the team would return home right after the game. But Sunday’s blizzard conditions in KC have altered those plans. The Chiefs made the call before their game that kicked off at 3:25 p.m. Central Time that remaining in Denver was the prudent move.
On Saturday, the Chiefs sat on the tarmac in Kansas City for four hours because of icy conditions and mechanical issues with their chartered airplane.
Their change in plans won’t affect the team’s practice schedule. Because the Chiefs own the AFC’s best record, they receive a bye in the NFL’s AFC playoffs, which begin next weekend.
The Chiefs won’t play until the AFC Divisional Round in a game on Jan. 18 or 19 (TBD).
