Chiefs’ DeAndre Hopkins and Denver’s Patrick Surtain had spirited battle Sunday

The Chiefs’ DeAndre Hopkins and Broncos’ Patrick Surtain went toe to toe on Sunday.

It was a physical affair during the Chiefs game Sunday against the Broncos at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Both teams delivered some big hits and at one point, some fans incorrectly assumed that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was looking for help from the game officials.

Even when players weren’t involved in a play, things got chippy.

Denver had cornerback Patrick Surtain cover Chiefs receiver DeAndre Hopkins on nearly every play, and the two got, um, well-acquainted with one another.

CBS Sports shared a video that showed Surtain and Hopkins going at it on a play that didn’t involve either of them. They were grabbing each other on the field and things spilled over on the sideline.

This was a good example of how the two teams were playing physical football.

Surtain was flagged for illegal hands to the face on the play. Hopkins had four receptions for 56 yards as the Chiefs beat the Broncos 16-14.
